Just skip the following italic text...the image attached to this post did not work, then after some delay started to work...makes no sense to me...and I remain /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

(I removed the image from this post since it did not work anyway. It is attached to the following post...)

(Well I thought could, since if you edit it does not show an image in that field, but the image is still there...)

(OK, this is interesting. The same file was uploaded in the next post and it works there. I have tried loading the file again in this post and it does not work here. I posted a question about this problem in News/feedback a few days ago. Here is an example in the same thread. The image works in post two, did not work in post one, still does not work in post one even if I attach it again...)

I happened to see some stainless steel trays/pans on ebay and ended up buying five for $18 ea delivered cost...

The reason they caught my eye is because they were perferated and 30x42 inches in size, which seemed like it would be perfect for a light duty guard to be mounted inside the ROPS on my Kubota B2910.

I don't need a real heavy duty guard since I only rotary cut a couple acres of weeds and there are little in the way of surprises there. Still, these SS pans are fairly heavy duty at about 20 gage...I am pretty satisfied with how things turned out.

Here is a pick of the raw material...inch and a quarter lip all reinforced with a 0.25 wire...

Try again... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Not sure why I sometimes have trouble getting an image to take, and other times everything works fine. The image was accepted, but just appears as a red cross in the little box... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I decided to make the guard a quick attach type, so I used the SMV holder to mount the bottom and the empty holes in the folding ROPS hinge to bolt the guard to.

Pretty strong, but not Charles Atlas rated.

The amber lights also would add something should a really hard strike occur, which is unlikey in my case.

Here is a shot of the lower mounting point, just slips in...

The tray is bolted to the hinge using 5/16 SS bolts. I think this will be strong enough for my needs. I could go up to 3/8 grade 8, but probably will not worry about it...

The holes in the tray are 3/8 and it is possible to see through it to a pretty good degree. Of course, it is easier to see behind without it being there, hence the need for a quick attach/remove method. I only run the brush cutter a few times a year...

Final shot...

I am pretty satisfied with the result, expeciallyl considering how the price of steel has be on the rise. Total investment about $18, if you count the SS bolts that I had on hand... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Henro, you certainly are creative.

So does that guard prevent the aliens from reading your mind too? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

What actually impresses me most is the final picture and how easily you can actually see through the holes, almost like looking through a screen.

About 8 hours by car. Not sure how long it would take by tractor.

Uh oh.
