Finally got around to a much needed project and a fun one. Repurposed a old disc set that the attaching points were broke off. I used the disc to make a finisher to break up large clumps in my field.

I then took the upper frame. I made a new front attachment frame to fit my category 2 QH out of some heavy angle I cut, bent , and welded. I have a 5.5 gpm pump on the way. 11 nozzles at 15” spacing. 2 30 gallon tanks. I made folding boom arms. They are spring open with simple bungees and will fold back if hit. In total the width is 12’4”. It sprays around 16-18’ wide depending on pressure.

Spraying used to be a dreaded task and many many fill ups for 15 acres with a atv setup. Now I can sit in my cab away from spray and much wider spray plus capacity. More pictures to come soon. Almost done with it. Just got the tanks tonight. Have to plumb in the feed lines to the filter and pump.

At the price they want for these things now. A days worth of some fab work and engineering was well worth it. Folds up narrow for storage or transport.

I'm guessing you bought an electric pump? You will most likely need a larger pump... Or multiple pumps to cover that boom. I'm very interested in how it works out. I got a trailer with 2x 40 (?) gallon tanks that I plan to build a sprayer out of this summer...

PTO pumps are better suited for larger acreage.

From what I’ve seen and the nozzle ratings calced 4.4 gpm is the requirement for these nozzles at 30 psi 13-14 gpa @8mph. The pumps 5.5 gpm @100 psi. I tested with a basic garden hose and it atomized good with the air induction nozzles. I looked up similar builds and a lot of portable washer people use them for soft wash tanks. We shall see if it’s suitable. I will have a marine battery in the frame and I’ll be making a 7 pin connect to assist the battery.

Got the tanks mounted and secured this morning. Just waiting on the pump. Going to plumb the returns / circulation on the tanks and put feeds with valves in the bottom. Make it easy to flush it. Re used some old cables and turnbuckles from a hunting blind. The barrel rims are super thick so I drilled a cross hole through each. I added a pole with a ring to add a horizontal strap. These things aren’t moving.

Got a link to the pump you ordered? My slightly smaller version (Cat 1) could use a bit more pressure/flow - thanks... Steve

It was a remco 5500 series from tractor supply. Supply is still iffy around me for things.

I looked at your pump, there was a question about using it with 9 nozzles... they said it should work based on your nozzle output.

I assume, the lower the better.

Yeah the nozzles I have are .4gpm at 40 psi. We shall see. I have to pick the pump up tonight and a few fittings.
