Homemade mulch baffle for Kubota MMM?

I've been reading up on the various posts in the Kubota Owning/Operating forum regarding mulching with the Kubota MMM decks. It looks like most folks that tried to simply bolt on a set of mulch blades and block the discharge chute end up with clumps of grass, and what does work is the high $ mulch kit from Kubota that includes the baffle that attaches underneath.

Since I cannot see spending $400 for the Kubota kit, I'd like to try fabricating one myself - maybe out of fiberglass. Has anyone tried this before?

I'll attach two photos of the real Kubota mulch baffle I found on another post (I cannot remember where - my apologies to whosever these belong to). I think it can be done.

I don't think fiberglass would hold up.

Also I hate mulching setups, even with the whole kit. i own a lawn service and a friend of mine has the identical mower as me. He has the mulch kit and has helped me on occasion. I mow the front yard and he mows the back. The grass is the same height and the his mower left so many clumps. the front yard I would cut one time but would have to help him cut the back a second time. Where I cut it the second time it looked so much better compared to where he cut it the second time. After that he took it off and he said he did not relize how much extra work he was doing with the mulch kit. Just my 2 cents
