I just purchsed 250 dollars of Homier tools.. I have heard from many other sites that the Homier tools are junk. I don't really have any tools at all, and I thought I would buy a bunch of cheap tools for the 10 - 20 times a year I may need them. Did I make a huge mistake, or will these tools fit my simple needs for years to come? I bought a bunch of hand tools... from hammers, socket sets, screw drivers, pliars and so on...!!!

No. Spending $2000 on tools you'll hardly ever use would have been a bigger mistake. Cheap tools will do the job most of the time. I don't think I've got any tools that are top quality but it doesn't bother me (and I've done a lot of mechanical and handyman work.)

They aren't Snap On quality, but they aren't junk either. I have bought them in the past, including a 5" machinist's vise that I've gotten 25 years of use with. I've replaced maybe 3 sockets and one ratchet wrench with up graded tools over the years. The hammers didn't last very long for me, but over all they work very well for the money spent, especially for a typical home owner's use like me. If I needed tools for my livelyhood every day? I'd probably would have gotten better stuff, but I'm in the same situation as you, use them maybe 10 to 20 times a year.

The bench grinder I bought from them lasted about 10 minutes. I eventually got most (except for about $7) of my money back. I had a 4" vise that lasted years and my brother bought the same vise (he thought) and it broke about the second time he used it. But the reconditioned Campbell-Hausfeld 18 gauge brad gun always worked great. Hand tools? Well, some lasted, some didn't. They're worse than "cheap" but some are worth what they cost.

You only made a mistake if they break and won't do the job. Will they work for me? Not a chance. I use my tools 8+ hours a day. Will they work for you? Guess we will find out. BTW, at night I moonlight as Captain Obvious!

I agree with most of the above - it just depends on your usage. I have personally had very good luck with cheap tools - most of mine came from Harbor Freight, which is probably about the same a Homier. Some of my most used tools are my normal wrench sets and I had made a promise to myself that if I could keep up with the cheap tools for a couple of years, I would replace them with quality tools. I've kept up with them for more years than that, but I've got no reason to replace them. I've broken one wrench (while using a cheater bar), but so far haven't felt the need to buy the more expensive tools.

If I were making my living by wrenching, it might be a different story.

Good luck and take care.
