Hook up a Massey Ferguson CB20 backhoe to a Bobcat CT225

I mounted a CB20 backhoe on a Bobcat CT225. The Bobcat has a two hydraulic connections, A&b with a lever to switch pressure and return back and forth, totally separate from the 3 pt.. hitch The backhoe has three hoses, one being the power beyond connection. Can I just plug the power beyond port on the backhoe and connect the other two hoses? I understand Hydraulics pretty well but I can't find much info on the how the power beyond is supposed to work.

PB is designed to pass fluid to the next valve.

You could remove the PB adapter and plug the PB port, and all fluid will pass through the tank port.

You could also use the PB and run the tank port to tank.

The PB in a lot of situations is used to feed fluid to the 3pt.

Thanks for the info. I found some info on youtube, last night, about how the valves and the power beyond connection worked but it didn't say anything about the adapter.

Most loader valves have a PB port. It is usually plugged.

To make the PB port fully PB, you need the adapter which separates the tank gallery and the PB gallery.

Now, all cyl fluid will pass through the tank port and the pump flow will pass through the PB port to the next valve.

If you will not be using the 3pt with BH attached, then you can plug the PB and then connect the tank port to tank.

Do not plug the PB port with the PB adapter installed.

Since you have three hoses on the BH, there must be an adapter installed.

You could also run the PB hose and the tank hose to tank.

It's funny that the mechanics at the dealerships couldn't explain how that worked and how many of then carry every fitting you could think of except an O ring plug. Have to wait until Monday when all the hydraulic supply places are open.

Interesting. Yours is the first compact tractor backhoe attachment I have heard of that has PB. You don't
need it, as you know.

I have the Kioti version of your tractor, and have owned the CT230 also. You CAN use the detented remotes
to power your hoe, as the manufacturer advises, but the better way would be to plumb it between the
loader valve PB and the AUX valve IN connections. The AUX valve PB has no external plumbing to tie into.

The MF site has little on the CB20 hoe, unfortunately.

The Massey Ferguson tractor uses the pressure from the 3 pt. so when the backhoe is removed, the pressure hose has to be plugged back into the tractor for the 3 pt. to work. After I bought this backhoe, I couldn't find anybody that made a sub frame for it so after reading your article, I reinforced the hitch and built a sub frame for it. Then I had to install the rear remote kit. I didn't think to make sure that I had the right male fittings for the couplers so I'll have to get those also tomorrow.

Yes, that is how I did it on my JD 955s and 4300s.

I still use the AUX work port to power my hoe on the Kioti, but I now run the hoe return line
to an adapter I made on the oil fill tube. One day I may convert the hardline IN to the
AUX valve so I can put the hoe between the FEL and AUX valves.
