How capable are case 600s?

Like case 648, that's the one with power steering, right? But none of them was 4wd I think.

I was looking into those before I got my tractor, but I was worried about how old they are now. I know ingersolls where the later models, but they're old too. And no fwd.

Is anybody here using these as their main tractor? For plowing snow, moving dirt, that sort of stuff. Hows traction on them if you fill the ballast box? Anybody put a quick attach on the loader arms so you could switch buckets fast, like put on a stump bucket? Or grapple, one of these with a grapple would be cool!

I love how compact they are. Maybe they have them, but I never seen something new that's small like that, with loader and 3ph. Around the size of my craftsman garden tractor, but a beefier, with 4wd. Wonder why they don't make those? Can't be lifting capacity, those old cases had huge lifting capacities.

My main concern would be the hydraulic drive transmission, and getting parts for it, if ever needed. There are probably more than several Garden Tractor forums out there, where you could find out information like that.

To be honest, a dedicated Case forum didn't get me the answers I was after. I found the members there were mainly restoring these things just coz they're cool, not necessarily to put them to some hardy use. I did watch some youtube vids of people working them pretty hard, was impressed.

I hear ya'. One of the guy's in the local tractor club has 4-5 different models of Case Garden tractors, a couple are pretty good sized. But, same thng, just run enough to cruise around the showgrounds,and that's about it.
