Ok, Ok, Ok!!!
Here's my problem. I got my new 4300, and in reading the operator's manual, I see where you need to torque various components on a regular basis. NO PROBLEMO!! But, 400 foot lbs??? I own a torque wrench, but it's only 100 foot lbs.
I guess I need a new wrench (my wife said I'd need LOTS of new tools), but clue me in about torque multipliers, etc. What do you do about those parts, as well as implements which require enormous amounts of torque. I might need a helper bar!

Bob, what do you want to know about torque multipliers, besides the fact that they're expensive./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I could sell them to you, but you can undoubtedly do better locally. And I don't use a torque wrench for 400 ft./lbs. myself, but my air impact wrench is rated for 425 ft./lbs. and for most things I figure that's close enough.

Bird:
My wife said I'd need LOTS of new tools, and an air compressor was on the list, so.......we're going to town on Saturday, and I'll check out air wrenches. Thanks for your input.

Bob, torque wrenches are nice to have and occasionally necessary, but I consider an air compressor to be absolutely essential. Even the 5 years we spent living full time in an RV, I carried a small air compressor./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I too , just got a new 4300 ..What are you torquing that requires 400#?I will reread my manual and see if I missed something. I agree with Bird, An air compressor is a real must.

Bob,

400 FT-LBs is a REALLY HIGH torque value. Carefully check the torque values - NOTE that most of the time two different values are given - usually Newton-Meters AND Foot-Pounds. Make sure you're reading the right value !!! /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

BTW, a good air compressor is only SLIGHTLY less useful than a tractor, which is only slightly less useful than a pickup truck. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif It's true that life does get easier as you get older - I think it's because you come to recognize these truisms...

Happy Torque-ing !!!

So how does it feel to be back in good old New Hampshire from AZ. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
Lots of snow&power outages&bad weather to travel&frost heaves&and mud season starting. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
You better plan on snowshoeing to the river and streams when fishing opens in April. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Hey Guys/Gals, maybe he's referring to the oomph it takes to hand crank it when it don't wanna crank normally. ;o)

I didn't make myself clear, I guess. I got a 512 rotary cutter with my rig, and when I read that the blade hardware and hitch pin torque values are 433 lb-ft, and the blade holder is 333 lb-ft, I got somewhat excited. I'm checking out air compressors and air wrenches now, so I'll get this handled. Thanks for all your comments.
