How heavy a rear blade do people have on a 2520?
How heavy do you think it could reasonably take for plowing snow?

The RB1072 rear blade weighs 283lbs. (128kg)
Have no idea how much weight you might put on it.
The RB1084 weighs 304lbs. (138kg)
Hope this helps. elad

I have the Frontier RB1072 and works great. Had a RB1060 on my 2210.

The length of the blade is is probably more important than the weight, it sounds like 6-7' is doable. Since the rear wheels are 4' apart I'd probably go for a 6' since that should give some clearance on either side and allow for handling heavier stuff while still allowing maneuverability. Of course, if I had a driveway that would be two passes with a 7' and three with a 6' the decision is easy :)

Thanks for the replies. I have a 250lb Bison 5' blade on my 2210. I was wondering how far up I could move with the 2520 (will be here within 2 weeks). Can I go to a 7' with a single hydraulic cylinder of 700 lbs?

In heavy or somewhat deep snow my blade will push me sideways sometimes, and thats with loaded industrals on. IMO a 6' blade is perfect. If the snow was mostly light and 3-4 deep on a regular basis you could get by with a 7'. I use the loader for the deep stuff and clean up with the blade.

As for the number of passes it takes, the more passes=more seat time=more fun!!! Yee Haa!! Unless its 400 below and 50mph winds!! aaahahaha!!!

I have a 6' on a 3320, which is heavier than a 2520 and I get pushed sideways or lose traction sometimes, too, but not as often as when I ran a 5' on a much lighter 670. I couldn't dig in with the 670 nearly as much as I can with the 6' on the 3320 without sliding sideways, so I think machine weight and not 3 pt lift capacity and HP is what's controlling depending on snow conditions. I wouldn't bother with a 7' even on my 3320. Dealer would have put a 5' on the 2520 and was easy about a 6' on the 3320.

I'm plowing 800' of inclined gravel and I also agree with Newt92's multiple passes comment. Having a wider blade would be recreationally counterproductive. It would just get me into the house faster, which isn't the result I'm looking for. I want a cleaned and graded driveway and I want to take forever making it that way.

I have a Woods RB84 on the back of my 2520, and it seems to work fine in most situations. Sometimes I plow with the front Meyers 6ft blade, while dragging the RB84 behind for clean-up.

I have the RB1172. It is about 500 lbs. It is very flexible in that it can offset side to side by about 18", and can tilt as well as angle. I can angle it to cut a small ditch off to one side. Also, I have angled it such that it goes about 45 deg vertical at a slight angle and I used it as a plow in the garden, or to dig into hard ground. It was basically turning it and using it like a knife with a not so sharp front edge. If it was any longer than 6", I would not be able to get the front edge off the ground and use it like that. I have loaded tires, and the 2520 handles it fine... When plowing snow, If I get pushed sideways, I can usually turn it around and do better going backwards. That's not often required.
