How much is Skid Steer Quick Hitch Rated for?

I have a small loader, that I would like to switch over to skid steer quick hitch, how much are they rated for? Loader has about 8k lift capacity. Will I just rip the quick hitch up? Would like to be able to put a bale handler and pallet forks on and still have them for other tractors.

You wont hurt it lifting at that capacity, but I suspect machine weight is pretty high and you may have enuf forcing capability to damage it if you excavate or push trees. Mine is doing fine with heavy use on a 12K# tractor with 5K lift.

For farm tractors it seems like the cut off is around 100hp for SSQA vs euro. You can get bigger with SSQA though.

I would suggest buying the HD SSQA attachments and not the 1/4" plate ones. Should be fine! If your going to be moving hay and pallets, I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. Now if we start talking truck loading with a 3 yard bucket or loading shot rock, I'd be looking for some alot heavier duty.

You need to call it quick attach, quick hitch is for the 3 point.

These things are usually made to pretty loose specs in my experience. It makes them great for attaching when dirty or snow packed. I have never had one fail when simply pushing or lifting. But when doing weird stuff with a grapple, I had them start to pry off the top on one side.

Honestly I have no idea what the maximum capacity of the SSQA is but I lift 3000+ lbs with mine all the time. You aren't going to hurt it with hay bales.

I'm not worried about the hay bales hurting it, I'm worried about when the bucket is on digging into a gravel pile and doing damage. The thing is with the quick attach, its all or none, SSQA bale handler does me no good if the bucket isn't SSQA as well. I think this machine is in the 13k range and 120 hp give or take. Most everything I see top out at 6k capacity, with the SSQA. I'm not sure about the lifting capacity but it will out push any skid steer I ever been in. Actually that's my bigger worry, probably stick with what I got, its got the capacity, maybe I'll build a mount to put the bale handler on the bucket.

I would not do that. Nobody seems to know the specified max load of the SSQA...

I have had problems with skidsteer attachments (Bobcat original) popping off using them with much smaller machines. Personally I don't like SSQA, don't trust them. I understand you are stuck with them for the Ag equipment, but I would never put it on a 4 ton loader. The breakout force on that thing could be close to 5 tons.

The Euro/Global mount would be better, but I know people who consider it to be at it's design limits at 4 tons, and many farmers here actually put a Volvo BM front loader QA on their biggest ag tractor FELs which is also around the 4 ton mark. They then have the possibility of adding a QA adapter back to Euro for standard implements, but use the stronger BM QA on the bucket.

I'm not familiar with what wheel loader QAs are common or standardized over there (if any) but would seriously consider this approach:

1 : convert loader and bucket to a QA suitable for 6-8 ton wheel loader work. BM, JCB, whatever is available and common. They are all hook-over-pin designs, for a reason!

2 : buy an adapter from this QA to skidsteer for use with your lighter ag equipment, and be gentle.

That's what I was looking for. Actually as my father (retired with nothing else to do but worry about my issues) got involved he wants a 2 bale handler, which would be too big for my tractors, so I might just stick with a loader QA and skip the SSQA. Only other thing I would use would be forks, but I think I know where I can get some real loader forks for little or nothing. I can just convert the bucket, bale handler and loader to interchange with the forks. My bales are about 1800, so 2 would still be well below my capacity, even with the handler. Thanks for all the replies.
