How soon after the break in period

Hi, Just wondering what kind Synthetic oil will you be putting in your Bota?
At my 50 hr service I also am thinking about using Synthetic, So many to choose from, so many opinions also what weight? Thanks Tom

Don't use Synthetic oil too soon. It's best to use regular Engine oils for the first 500 hrs. so the rings can seat for optimal power, Then start the synthetic oils. I prefer Delvac 1 made by mobil for a synthetic engine oil.

As far as hydraulic oils I have no knowledge of the synthetics being better than the regular.

Remember, this is just my Diesel mechanic's opinion, Don't try this at home and all the exclaimers that I haven't thought of

Your diesel mechanic is wrong. Instead of 'old wives tale' that's an 'old mechanics tale'.

There are plenty of vehicles that come direct from the factory with synthetic oil. Does anyone think the engines sit running on a dyno for 500 hours? 100 hrs?

Also, there are plenty of threads in this forum about the benefits of synthetic hyd fluid. The issue isn't whether syn fluids are better, they are. The issue are (1) Do YOU operate your tractor in an environment or in a manner where you can reap those benefits and if so, (2) Is it worth it to YOU.

If I lived in Nova Scotia and had to use my tractor in the winter, I'd switch to synthetic fluids at 50 hours. Heck, I live in PA, and have to use my tractor in the winter. I switched to syn long ago.

I put full synthetic in all my newborn 'Botas with 50 hours on the clock and then changed out the tranny fluid to full synthetic at the first specified change, but that was many thousands of hours ago.

I changed over my JD 2305 to Amsoil Synthetic Heavy Duty Diesel Oil and Synthetic Tractor Hydro Fluid both just shy of 50 hours. I stuck with the JD Filters as I was one of the fortunate customers who received a coupon for the free JD Filter Pack. I also run Sythetic in my 04 Bombardier ATV, 06 Ram, 06 Grand Caravan, Generac Generator, Briggs Power Washer, and my 4 stroke weedeater....now that I look at it, that's quite a bit of oil....
