CNH TC40DA & Ford 1920
Hi, I hope this isn't the wrong forum for this topic but it's rather unique: i need to transport the following from wisconsin to my new home in the Catskills north of NYC:

TC40DA
17LA loader
CNH 9' backhoe
7' CNH snowblower
6' bush hog
6' rotary tiller
bush hog PHD
7' box scraper

can anyone suggest a good, honest and reliable carrier? i have one bid for about $2,500.

Thank you so much in advance,

Danica

That seems high. I had a friend get a Toyota from Indiana to San Diego for $800 about 5 years ago.

There are some online back haul sites. They find truckers that have a partial or empty load and contract them. You may need to pay someone to be on the end where the tractor is to load it for you but I am sure your local tractor dealer could send someone out to do it. Just make sure whom ever you use is insured for commercial transport.

I think the biggest problem is all the material that Danica needs to move. The tractor with loader and backhoe attached is not bad and could easily be done by any equipment trailer and a pickup truck. Add in the 7' snowblower, 7' box blade, 6' brush hog, tiller and post hole digger and you're taking up the space of two tractors with loaders. You end up much more limited as far as who can handle such a haul back and it also means that all they will probably be hauling is Danica's load instead of being able to pick up a few additional loads for other people too. I almost bought a tractor from MN that I saw on tractorhouse for a great deal but the hauling was going to kill the deal. Having said all that I still think that $2500 seems a little high. Good luck Danica and welcome to the forum.

Have you thought about renting a u-hall and their car carrier trailer? I would think you could do it yourself for cheaper.

I buy equipment all over the country and haul it back to home base.
.
Travel all non-toll roads.
.
Use U-Haul and other rental trailer flatbeads hooked to the back of my trusty Ford E-350 V8. With use of various creative techniques - pull amazing treasures to the home ranch. Some people call me an Oakie. Some call me a Red-neck. Some people call me crazy. I do own a useful 3,000 pound gross weight stakeside trailer, 8' X 12' useable bed space - just legal outside to outside dimensions. With ramp. Also a high ball draw bar adds drive on load-ability. When necessary - I have a portable 2 ton engine hoist I bring along for those attachments to load.
.
But I have yet to pay any hauler to transport my equipment for me.
.
Yes - I do work on the road.
.
Yes - I may find a need to make multiple trips.
.
Some cases, for a couple of hundred - I will rent a storage unit near the point of origin. Shove the equipment in question into storage at the point of origin. And make planned recoveries of equipment in stages from that location in conjunction with my work on the road - and haul everything - over time - back to the home forty. Total cost - a fraction of what a hauler would charge.

Splitting into a couple loads may help a lot. Send the tractor/BH as one load via a vehicle hauler. Not sure how best to find one, but I see lots of haulers coming up here from Indiana pulling loads of trailers/campers (IN is the camper/trailer capital of the US, it seems), so they could probably get your tractor that far easy enough on an empty return trip. That's about halfway. Food for thought.

Then palletize everything else, and quote it separately. Freight shipping made easy. Free freight quotes on LTL, Truckload, International and Air Freight Rates - Freightquote.com is one good place to try, especially for the palletized stuff.

i doubt uhaul is going to "allow" a tractor that large to be put on their light-duty aluminum trailer. you could lie, but if something happens, you are screwed. i am guessing the OP does not have something to pull said trailer, and it would require more than one trip anyways. i'd pay someone with a bigger trailer to do it, if i were in those shoes.

Do you have any idea how much space her equipment would occupy, or how much it all weighs?
