Do any of the Kubota B series tractors have the single HST pedal for forward/reverse like the BX has? I know the L series has it. If the others (7500, 2410, 2710, 2910, 7800 - did I miss any? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) do not have this, I assume there are two separate pedals. If so, is the arrangement of the pedals close enough for heel/toe operation?
I am partly just curious, and - do I have to admit it ? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif - may be moving up to a larger model. I know I would get used to anything, but I sure have enjoyed the HST pedal on the BX.
FYI, moving up would only be to accomodate heavier loader capabilities, as this tractor has done everything else I have asked it to and then some. I would also enjoy a larger mowing deck (or rear finish mower). I love the seat time, but just don't have enough time and it would be nice to get it done quicker. I would miss the backhoe, but haven't used it as much as I thought I would and can't afford larger tractor with hoe.
I realize I am talking to myself here as most of you have been through so many of the same thoughts - you don't need to hear all of mine! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Anyway, thanks in advance for the info on the other models. I know I need to get to a dealer and check it out, but won't have an opportunity to do that for a week or two. BTW, I probably won't go smaller than the 7800/2910 if I trade up. I know the 7500/2410/2710 are great for many of you, but if I make the leap, I want a very significant power upgrade or it just isn't worth giving up all the wonderful things I have with the BX!

Hi Terry,
I have a B2910 and it has 2 pedals. I can make my size 11EE's touch both pedals (barely), but I don't make enough contact to get a solid feel on either pedal. I've never been very fond of the pedal arraingment on my tractor, but then I sat on a new L series with the single pedal and it didn't feel any better. The John Deere that I looked at before I bought my Kubota had a better arraingment with the pedals side by side, I thought. Your best bet would be to demo the models you think you would want, and see how they feel. Having said all that, the pedals are the only thing I'm not overly fond of on my tractor. I've done more HARD work with my tractor than I ever thought I could. Overall I'm extremely pleased with my B2910 and would highly recommend it to any one that needs a tractor that size.

Hi,

I think in reality, the B2910 has a rocker pedal that is under the floor board. So while there are two "push rods" that stick up above the floor board, you in reality only have one pivot point, just like the bx models.

It is just that the two ends are connected on the BXs above the floor board, while the B2910 and others are connected together under the floor board.

I don't think I can reach both forward and reverse at the same time with my sizse ten feet. But I don't think it matters much either...just a short move from one pedal to the other.

Hi Bill,
You're absolutely right, but he was asking about whether it had 1 or 2 pedals, not how they were connected under the deck. I don't think it would be very hard to modify the pedal arraingment on a 2910 to make it a single pedal though. The thing I didn't like about a single pedal was that the weight of my big feet made it hard for the pedal to center between forward and reverse by itself. I also found that it was very easy for me to go over center and engage the opposite direction instead of letting the tractor coast to a stop. Which in theory increases the wear on the drive mechanism.

It may seem odd that I prefer the BX type pedal considering most of the time I place my heel on the deck for forward and ball of foot on deck for reverse. Still, the spread between heel and toe on the pedal, and the placement seem just right for me. Also, when doing loader work for extended time, I do like placing both toe and heel on the pedal and using it that way. It may not save any time, but saves a lot of leg movement.
