Hi Everyone
I was looking at hunting blinds on the internet and was thinking of building one. Then I thought about all you do it yourself guys and thought ok I bet somebody has built some really good hunting blinds and maybe they would share a picture of it?
I am thinking of expending the game preserve to open for Deer season
but in order to control the hunting and shooting I am thinking of only allowing 3 hunters and making them hunt out of a blind. Also if you are out of the wind and rain not freezing to death your chances of seeing something are always better. This may appeal to some hunters and some it may not.
I am thinking of a 4x4 not off the ground to high just enough to see a little better. I was wondering of anybody has built one for their place if they could share a picture and how it was made?

Can't find but one pic of the building; 6' square, on 3-4x4 runners, used alum. storm windows on 3 sides (laid horizontal), bench w/swivel seat below small window next to door. Also have a LP bottle w/hose for "Buddy" heater. Made mostly from used lumber. Built it at home & trailered it to the farm (30 miles).

Grey-faced deer (8-pt) was 40' away, 10-pt (behind tree) was 60' away, little 6-pt was outside door (sometimes less than 30').

I use this for my cold weather noon "break room" when I'm at the farm working. :) Call it my "timber shack"! ~~ grnspot110

Here are pics of the two hunting stands I built on my place. The brown stand is about 12' off the ground and is 6'x8'. I sided it with Hemlock and put steps on since my father in-law who doesn't get around well was going to be the main tennant. The green stand is about 10' high (it's sits on top of strip mine hill) and my dad is the main tennant of that one. Of course each grandad typically hunts with one of my two sons, so it's pretty cool.

We are actually getting ready to do a little remodeling of the big stand since it has been up for 6 years now. My main goal is to put up a better set of stairs for my father in-law. The green stand needs some hemlock siding added yet, but it's ok for now.

I have build several over the years. Each one is different. One thing I have found helpful is to build the stand to fit the location. First decide where you want the stand then take a step ladder to the location. You can determine the height needed and where the shooting openings should be placed. Also keep the sun in mind.

Thought I would show the upgraded stairs I am adding to the hunting cabin I posted earlier in the thread. Trying to make it easier for my father in-law to get in and out.

You are a good man for thinking of your father-in-law. I am about to the point where I would need an elevator, but still trying to stay in the game.

Just made one with old carpet (we got new in the house) using just 6' poles and zip ties. About a 4x5 area with a hunk of carpet on the ground then 4' tall carpet going around it. Cut flaps to see out. Can stand and shoot the bow over the top.

Not that there are any deer near it unfortunately:mad:.

We use this one - its mobile and doubles as a duck blind

its no joke - friends hunted out of it last year.
