I have a RTV900T,Kubota with the auxiliary hydraulic package and would like to put a 3 pt. hitch on it to mount my Woods RFM42 mower and power the PTO drive with a hydraulic motor. I've seen a you tube video where a guy is powering a manure spreader like this. The system on the RTV delivers 5 gpm,as I understand it, and the hydraulic. motor I've found from Surplus Center specs. say flow 17.5 gpm cont.. I don't understand any of this and would like to know if my 5 gpm system will run this motor for what I want to do.
Thanks Jim

Based on your information. No. Well,,,, it'll power it but at a painfully slow and weak pace. Sorry.

If this project progresses keep us informed and post pics. Anxious to see something like this work!!!

Is the auxiliary power on your RTV driven by the engine or 12 VDC power unit?

For reference 5 GPM at 2500 PSI requires approximately 8 HP input.

You will get approximately 60 - 80% of this power out via a hydraulic motor so you will be very disappointed with the performance

Was the manure spreader ground drive?

The auxiliary system is driven by it's own pump mounted on top of the trans.,it also has it's own hydraulic tank, filter, cooler, and 2 quick connects on the rear next to the 2 for the dump system. My RTV has a hand throttle so that I can set the rpms where i need them.
The manure spreader in the video showed the hydraulic system running the auger on the rear and the bed feeder appeared to be chain driven by the wheels.
There are other videos showing guys adapting mowers to skid steers using this type of independent drive motor but that seems to be a different deal.
I'm just looking to find some uses for my RTV other than hauling me around and thought this might work.

Skid steers are equipped with auxiliary hydraulics intended for driving augers, mowers, etc.

That was not the design intent for your RTV

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. I just wanted to check with those of you who know more about this than I do before spending a couple of thousand on a loser.

Is there an option to put a PTO output on your RTV? I know nothing about them

Depending on the HP of your RTV it might run your mower

Glad I could provide some input on the hydraulic side of this.

I don't think there is any way to put a pto out put on it and it wouldn't have enough power. The engine is something like 21 h.p. so pto would be considerably less.
It's been raining here for 3 or 4 days and I think cabin fever is setting in.
Thanks again.

Have you considered getting a self-powered trail or finish mower like a swisher? It would tow easily behind your RTV.

My little machine is 25hp gas engine. It's all hydraulic. 4 wheel motors and hydraulic power to the mower, brush cutter, etc... we figured it out over in the PowerTrac forum that I have about 11HP at my hydraulic output and that's 8GPM at 2500psi. The drive consumes about 14 HP. And I have a 10 gallon hydraulic tank. They say you should have something like 1 gallon of reservoir for every 1 gallon per minute. So if you have a 5GPM hydraulic output, you'd need about a 5 gallon reservoir just for the mowing part on your RTV.
