NORTRAC NT-204C
OK,so here is what is going on
Yesterday I GO TO START TRACTOR ,I NOTIC A STEADY DRIP COMING FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF TRACTOR,I LOOK AND IT SEEMS TO BE COMING OUT OF TIMING COVER.
(SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS LOCK BUT EYES ARE NOT THAT GOOD)
I UNSCREW COVER WITHOUT IT RUNNING NOTHING,ZILCH.
SO I START IT AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS PRESSURIZED SPRAYING OUT IN FORCE (I KNOW IT COULD BE BEING THROWN BY THE SPINNIG FLYWHEEL)
NOT TRANS FLUID AS IT DOES NOT HAVE THE VICOSITY,OR SMELL,NOR DIESEL,NOR ENGINE OIL,
I PULLED STARTER MONTHS AGO TO CLEAN IT AND NOTICED OIL/HYDRAULIC FLUID ON THE NOSE OF SAID STARTER.
ANY IDEAS ?
ALL HELP WILL BE MOST APPRIECEATED
PUT DYE INTO DIESEL ,NOW IT IS IN HYDRAULIC SUMP AND THE TRANNY SUMP AS THEY DO NO SHARE THE SAME.
SO FAR NOT IN CRANK CASE........

Does your tractor share the sump for transmission and hydraulic fluid? My guess would be no, but I don't know your tractor.

In any case, fluid in the bell housing has to be either engine oil, fuel or transmission fluid. These should be easy enough to tell apart. If you can't figure it out by texture or smell then get a fluorescent dye for oil. You can get a kit with a couple of bottles of dye and a UV pen light for a few bucks at most any automotive store.

Make your best guess as to which fluid it is and put the dye in that sump. Run the tractor for a few minutes and then use the pen light to see if the oil in the bell housing shows any sign of glowing. Best done in a dark or at least heavy shaded place.

Unfortunately, whatever is leaking is probably going to mean splitting the tractor to fix.

Best of luck and let us know what you find out.

PUT IN DYE INTO DIESEL .
THE DYE IS IN THE HYDRAULIC FLUID,AND TRANNY FLUID EVEN THOUGH THEY DO NOT SHARE SAME SUMP.
SO FAR IT IS NOT IN CRANK CASE OIL..
ANY IDEAS ?

I'm confused, see if I understand this properly.

You put fluorescent dye (the kind that requires a UV light to "see") into the fuel tank and now you have fluorescence showing up in both the transmission AND the hydraulic sumps?

What about inside the bell housing, any fluorescence there?

Is it possible the transmission and hydraulic sumps have previously had fluorescent dye added to them?

AT THIS POINT ANYTHING IS POSIBLE ...
I BELIEVE THE "DYE" IN THE HYDRAULIC FLUID IS RESIDUAL FROM OTHER TESTS BEFORE I GOT THIS TRACTOR,ALTHOUGH I HAVE HAD IT MORE THAN A MINUTE....
NOT AS MUCH DYE COMING FROM BELL HOUSING HOWEVER I ,THE TRANNY IS LOW HYDRAULIC IS FULL.
THE FLUID DOES NOT SMELL LIKE THE TRANNY FLUID AS IT IS THINNER LIKE HYDRAULIC FLUID...
THANKS TO EVERYONE I'LL HAVE MY MECHANIC FIX IT AS I AM PHYSICALLY UNABLE.
AGAIN MUCH THANKS . I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW WHAT AND WHEN I DO.
HOPE EVERYONE HAD A WONDERFUL EASTER.
GOD BLESS
