Hydraulic Fountain

I used my L2900 Tuesday night to haul off some limbs that I had cut up following a storm. All was well until Wednesday evening. As soon as I started the tractor I had a fountain spraying from the top of the loader return hose.

I know for sure that nothing fell on the line or hit it and it doesn't look like it has rubbed against anything either. Honestly, it's hard to even see where the the hole is. It really puzzles me how a hole would just appear over night.

Is this typical of a line failure? I Guess I was expecting something a little more dramatic.

There is no "typical" failure, they are all different!

I'll let you in on a dirty little secret but you have to promise not to tell anybody. Us hose shops are a little slow right now. So, we took a lesson from the glass guys that throw rocks with their business cards taped to the rock. We go around at night with a cordless drill and a real small bit and wack hoses. You didn't find my card on the steering wheel where I left it?

Just a reminder never look for or put your skin near a hydraulic leak. The oil will inject itself into your skin. The result is loss of tissue up to and including loss of the limb. Use a piece of cardboard to find leaks. Be safe.
