I am kicking around the idea of building a 3PH attachment for my skid loader. I have a NewHolland LX885. The auxiliary hydraulic specs are 17.9GPM @ 2500PSI. My quick couplers have been changed out to Pioneer style couplers when my flat face couplers failed. I want to add a hydraulic PTO motor to be able to run 3PH mower, snow-blower, and any other darn thing that I can think to hook up to it. See the link for the motor that I am thinking of using...

Then tell me if it is going to work as I hope. The main thing I would like to do with a bush hog style mower is to trim back fence rows. I have a lot of multiflora rose around my place, and would love to make it an extinct species on my property at least.

That should work. I believe that is the same one I have. I will install mine to the input shaft to the gear box on a 5 ft bush hog. I have a Case 1845c skid-steer, about 19 GPM's.

The one by Everything attachments, has a unique blade that will give different cuts by reversing the hyd motor. One side of the blade will cut heavy brush, and the other side of the bld will give a finer cut on grass.

Surprising that it is not designed for 540rpm continuous. ISZ

With your GPM, the hyd motor will turn at 431 rpm. Still good enough for a brush hog. If you select a brush hog gear box with 1 : 1.25 ratio, you will restore the brush hog to 540 rpm. If using other gear box's, the rpm will be proportional. Blade tip speed is important.

Are you going to build one from scratch, or use a ready made brush hog?

This is an adapter to mount any kind of 3pt implement. Has built in hyd motor.

This 48 in bush hog is powered by a hyd motor at 8 GPM.

I have an old beat up Howse mower that I plan on rebuilding and beefing up. The attachment that you have pictured is similar to what I have in mind to build. Instead of having a hydo motor attached to each implement, I can then use any 3PH implement on one adapter.

One more question for the pros. Can you point me in the right direction for the relief valve that will be required to let a mower spin down when the flow of fluid is stopped? As I am getting ready to pull the trigger on this motor, I would prefer to get everything from Surplus Center - Hydraulics, Engines, Electrical and More Thanks!!!

I am not a hydraulics wizard, but I believe you can get by with a simple in-line check valve Tee'd in between your supply and return line. The direction of flow needs to be set to flow from return to supply. I notice the checks have a cracking pressure of from 5 PSI to some higher ranges. I would think the lowest cracking pressure would do fine as the only time return pressure should be greater than supply would be at "coast down". I'm sure this is what my hydrauic tree saw has on it. This check will not allow reversing direction on your mower which in the case of my saw does not matter. Surplus center has the check valves for (.75" 30GPMS) for around $20.00. Smaller ones are available for less $$$.
