My daughter works with special education kids at the elementary school. It would be so much fun pulling up and giving them, and all the other kids, rides in that. Too cool. Okay, I’m starting to get a little jealous.
That's what I want to do too. Unfortunately they had to remove the siren and they are $2600!!

Alright, now *that* is cool as hell..

I see many parades in your future :)
Now that I decided to keep it as is, I'm going to see if my welder can modify the rear end to put a receiver hitch on it. Then I can tow my 67 Ford 3000 on the trailer behind it to go to the shows and parades.

A fire engine has a pump and a fire truck has ladders.

I don't see any ladders.

So engine it is I guess.

But don't both have an engine under the hood and sit on a truck chassis?

Anyhow....

Big red loud machine... life is good. :p
Yes, they kept the ladders. Said they are worth $5000.00 But they gave me all kinds of discharge hose and a bunch of big extinguishers that are still full but dated.
They also kept the nozzles and suction hose and floating intake.

We have a swimming pool. A fire truck that could suck out of that in a pinch would be pretty nice. However, the pool is frozen solid 2-3 months out of the year, so not a valid option in winter. And there's a fire hydrant about 200 yards from the house, and to former volunteer fire department is fully staffed now, and only about a mile away.

A friend of mine (deceased now) wanted to be firefighter all of his life. He got the chance in his early 20s and lived his dream. He even bought a 1930's (I think) antique fire engine/truck (it had pumps and ladders) and drove it in parades and such. He had quite the smile around that thing. :)

So thanks a lot everyone!! I'll try and get into everyone's responses here with a few questions and answers.
Yes, unfortunately it won't be in a heated building this winter as I tried all summer to get someone here to build and all I got was promises and no-shows.
So we pumped tank off, then when I got home I opened these two valves...one says pumps multi-drain and the other is the gauge drain. Lots of water came out both.
Is there anything else I'm missing? Should I leave any other valves open or pull plugs out of anything, or blow all the gauges out?

I was going to do that, call my home insurance company and ask them what me discount is now that the fire dept is in my driveway, LOL

I was thinking of buying one just to have one at the ranch.

We seem to get at least one fire every year.

I would be happy to help out with any questions you may have.
To start off, do NOT run the pump for an extended period without water actually flowing (either out of a discharge, or recirculating to the tank). It will burn up the pump.
That is a sweet looking engine!
So when the fire chief and I pumped the tank off, he told me to open both these two valves I circled BEFORE I engage the PTO.
I know how to engage the PTO and use "Drive" on the transmission once engaged.
Anything else?

I don't even know how to load it, LOL But he said I need a suction line, and they had a cool floating intake.
And I need hose nozzles and a nozzle for the turret cannon (please excuse my ignorance for not using proper terminology, LOL)

I wonder if I can get a guide book or something from the manufacturer?
