I can\'t believe the deal I got!

This past weekend I won an auction on ebay. While I wanted to give my local dealer the business, I couldn't pass this up. I won a brand spankin' new Cub Cadet 1529 for the bid price of $1500.00. I've got to drive (from North Carolina) to Florida this weekend to pick it up, but it's well worth the 6 1/2 hour drive to me. Other than just bustin' at the seams to tell everyone, I have a question. Should I have trouble with warranty or service issues from my local dealer? Also, does anyone have this mower and could tell me their likes/dislikes or problems with it?

Thanks a bunch,

Looks like a Great Tractor.

Any idea what this model's MSRP is?

I don't think you should have any problems with the warranty, or service from your local dealer. Your dealer will not turn away service business if you need any.

The Cub website lists it at $3099.00. I searched the net to find the cheapest one like it I could find because a lot of dealers are selling their remaining 2003's at pretty good deals. The best price I could find was at a dealer in Michigan for $2599.00.

I can't believe it, I bought a 1529 this past spring paid $2800 at TSC nice mower works real well. PLus you get that free dump cart too great. dislikes are minor: the mower dis-engages when you go in reverse on the hydro. Bird gave me some thoughts on unplugging that feature but my boy wasn't complaining so I did not try to change it, yet. The hood just snaps over the side panels and there are two white foam rubber strips to protect the sidepanels. Well one side got tore-up and was scrapping the paint off. My boy checking the oil before each use, no fault there. that puppy towed our 675lb lawn roller around and did not complain at all. I think you are going to like it. great job, I'm jealous /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Oh I didn't try try mulch plug, pulled it off before it seen action. I think you just convinced me to get serious about Ebay /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: I can\'t believe the deal I got!

As a follow-up to my original post, I went to pick up the mower. Left Friday afternoon around 1 o'clock pm. Family went with me, drove down to Savannah, GA (240 miles from home) for some great food and spent the night. Got up at 6 this morning, me and son drove the 130 miles on to FL. while wife stayed in Savannah to shop. Still a little uneasy about the whole deal until I got there. Nice suprise. A very nice dealer with a first class operation. Told me how he messed up and didn't set the reserve high enough, and how another guy emailed offering more than I had bid after the auction had ended. Then said about the reserve it was his mistake and my gain. Told the other guy if I didn't show as we had agreed he'd call him. Then he sold me a bagger to go with it for $250. So my total for a brand new 1529 and a bagger...$1750.00. Got home at dark and will wait (impatiently) until tomorrow to unload it and check it out. I am still dumbfounded that it all came together like it did. By the way, he had three or four new White mowers (I didn't pay attention to the models) that he said he had to move because he had 30 new Cubs coming and needed the room. Talked about listing them on ebay as well. I also saw a new 2166 on the floor for $2699. If any of you are looking, I'd give him a call, as I'm sure he'd negotiate. If you do, tell him the guy that bought the 1529 off ebay sent you. It would make me feel less guilty for stealing the mower, and might make him feel better as well! His company is Nassau Equipment in Fernandina Beach, FL. His name is Neal.
