I am as patriotic as they come but I never liked fireworks. I don’t seek them out, don't even look up when they are launched. It could be that I don’t like summer. I don’t claim PTSD, it’s not a phobia, never had an accident with fireworks, and I am not anti-social —-just plain and simple don’t like them.

I like watching them although I'm not a people person and I hate crowds, always worry about the fuses myself though lighting them off myself.

We'll just go out back and shoot some rounds off into the hill tonight for noise.

I think fireworks are OK and long as its somebody else's money and being displayed at their place. Even this early in the summer its getting pretty dry out here and I worry about fires caused by fireworks. I enjoy the laser light show and fireworks over at Grand Coulee Dam and have gone there several times on the 4th.

Four years ago we had a wildfire coming at us from out of the SW - Watermelon Hill wildfire. First wildfire in this part of the country in the 36+ years I've been out here. Soooo..... I've got a real first hand experience of the response and response time for fire crews out in this neck of the woods.

Just rather worry about wildfires not starting then about putting them out.

As kids we used to like to play with them, in part because they were illegal but also because it's just fun to blow things up. I really don't have the desire anymore, even though I can now buy them legally. Among other things they would probably drive my dog nuts; he would think that they were gunshots and would just HAVE to go find what I shot. (He has a little TOO much faith in my shooting ability anyways. :D)

They're illegal here for good reason- it's our fire season. I pulled the big box of fire hose and tools out of the barn the other day and set it up by the hydrant with 200' of hose ready to go. I'm fine with fireworks done safely in a safe place. But it always unnerves me when people in my mountains shoot off fireworks because I know most of them are not doing it safely and are not prepared to handle any fire they might start.

I was fine with fireworks until I saw people setting them off in a crowd two feet from the gas tank of their car.

A little common sense and consideration of others will go a long way to avoid the need for additional laws, regulations, and prohibitions.

Iowan's could buy fireworks legally for the first time in 2017. There was one rule, they had to stop at 10pm. There were so many people breaking that rule that most cities changed the law. Now people can only shoot them off between 9am and 10pm on July 3 & 4. No other days during the summer. Some cities have different hours but keep the same two days only.

Another case where a few can ruin it for the many.

Goes to show you that the economy really is doing well when so many people have money to burn. I can enjoy a commercial show as much as anyone but the bozo blowing his hand off or maiming an animal not so much. Truth be told, the animal has more of my sympathy.

Legal to buy in ohio but illegal to set off anything more than smoke bombs and sparklers.

People do it anyway. I have done it. Law doesn't seem to get involved if you are reasonable.

But even so, there are no shortage of people on local social media (facebook) pages harping about how fireworks scare horses to death, they should be banned, people with PTSD, one even claimed they had to drug a dog like crazy to get them to remain calm through fireworks.

I have set them off, and they honestly arent much louder than I high powered rifle going off, of a loud backfire from a car.

I like fireworks. Take the kids to a local showing. Havent set them off ourselves in 5-6years.

My old dog, rest his sole, would be like you and HAVE to find what i shot, and if he couldn't find what you shot, he would go find something else for you to shoot which could be up to a half mile away. And he would lay under the tree waiting on your to come shot what ever he had treed. And it didn't matter if it took you 30 minutes to come find him or 6 hours.
