This has been one of the wettest summers I can remember. Usually in July we get 3 to 4 inches of rain with about the same amount in August, for a total of 6 to 8 inches for the heart of the summer.

Well this past month we had 9.5 inches and after the first 2 days of august we have had 1.2" I can't even get into the garden to weed it.

At least I don't have to worry about the well going dry!!

Up til about two weeks ago I could have said that I would take some of that rain. Our summer started out dry and cool and lasted that way until the middle of July or so. We've made up for it now though, can't get anything done around here without getting wet it seems. Ditto on the garden. If I went in right now I would come out 2" taller from the clay on the bottom of my sandles.:D

It sure does vary. My records for the month of July show:

1995 = 5.19"
1996 = 2.81"
1997 = none
1998 = .40"
1999 = .83"
2000 = .58"
2001 = 1.27" (all on the first day of the month)

I didn't keep records for 2002 through 2007.

2008 = .92"
2009 = 5.44"

So this year has been, for us, an unusually wet July at least.

If we could get three days in a row without rain we could finally finish first cut, about a month late.:(

Yesterday morning, we had a very heavy dew, but not this morning. And the forecast for the foreseeable future is dry, sunny, highs of 99 to 102. I always have hated August.:rolleyes:
