- Kubota Grand L 5740, loaded R1's w/640 lbs cast weight, 854 loader
But yesterday we had a "blizzard". Obviously I have nothing to handle snow. I had drifts across my two drives, one in front of my barn and one in front of my garage. I got my open station, ROPS L5740 out and froze my rear off but no more snow than I had to move, It was kinda fun using the FEL to shove the snow off my drives. One drift was about 30 inches deep and about 45 foot from one side to the other and the other one was a bit bigger. I made two huge piles of snow on the side of each drive. This was the only time I have ever wished for a cab on my tractor, even the summer heat is fine with me.
Now an observation...
although this is not the norm, this is the second time I have had to shove snow off my drives since I've owned a tractor. The first time I was using a GL3240 with loaded r4 tires and I had a terrible time moving anything. the tractor just wanted to spin.
This time, I was on my GL5740 with loaded R1 tires and 642 pounds of cast weight. I never spun a tire. Weight is your friend.
although I wonder if the R1's didn't work better too. I never got off the concrete.

this is what I was messing with and is the smaller of the two drifts.
