I ment the swaybars hit the tires when the rear blade is on and my drawbar does too. But the swaybars are not able to move at all. And when its raised they hit the tires is there a way to adjust this?

Plower,
I also have a JD4100 with a rear blade (turf tires). My blade is a Monroe Tufline and while the bars come very close to the tires, they do not hit the tires. I did adjust the sway so the blade does not swing left and right. Sounds like the problem may be the designe of your blade.

PLOWER, are your rear wheels in their widest position? The R4's on my 4100 needed this done to gain enough clearance so the draft links would not rub on the tires when using most attachments. Seems to be a common problem among 4100 owners with both Turf tires and R4 Industrials.

DFB,
Do you know the widdest width the tires can be?

PLOWER, don't know the exact measurement. but you should be able to tell by looking at the rim. The change isn't much but its usually enough. One side is definately deeper than the other. On my tractor if the shallow sides are facing toward the tractor (widest position) the valve stems are on the inside. It is a factory mounted tire. In my case all it took was to put the left wheel on the right side, the right one on the left side and keep the tread direction oriented correctly.

DFB,
MY tires are valves out,but I was wondering if I switch to make the valves pointing in, if that would mess up the axle or somthing.I guess what im asking is did your dealer do that?

Yeah, it was done by sevice techs at the JD dealer before delivery to me. Its the only way to get many implements to fit the 4100, especially if you can't reverse the pins. There is a lot of discussion about this in the archives at the jplan.com site. Simple procedure. Gives the machine a little more stability too. Rear wheel bolt torque is 72lb-ft. See if your dealer will do it N/C. Maybe send out a service tech to do it on site.

BTW I took a trip out to the garage. A quick measurement looks like about a 3+" gain with the R4s. The book lists the spacing change only for the R1 bar tread 23.9" vs 28.5" inside tire to tire R4s are and turfs are definately wider. I have about 25" inside. What tires do you have?

DFB, I have the r-4s. ITS time for the dealer to come get the tractor for service so I'll have him switch the tires. So when you have it done it makes a good difference?

Plower,
I don't know about the JD but my 'bota has 4 different ways to mount the rear tires. You pick up about 2 inches with each "change". I just finished putting them to the widest setting and it made a world of difference with hill stability. My tires aren't loaded and I did it myself, pretty easy. Take a look at how the outer rim attaches to the inner rim, thats the lugs you change, not where the inner rim attaches to the axel, that stays put. (assuming you also have two piece rims) It would also make a big difference on your lower link arms rubbing the tires.
