I think I\'ve decided...

I think I've nearly arrived at my decision. For my new 5-acre piece of pasture (well it's not pasture yet--most recent owner had pigs and goats out there--it's pretty rough right now), with old fences to tear down, new ones to erect, small stumps to dig, ground to level, etc., I've narrowed it down to to KIOTI tractors: the LK2554 and the LK1914. Attachments will include FEL, 5' brush hog, tiller, and boxblade, and at some point a finish mower. I like the idea of the bigger, heavier 2554, especially with the FEL, but I also like the manuverability of the smaller 1914 (also the price). Kioti seems to be the best value out there, and I've got a good Kioti dealer within 6 miles of my place. By the way, thanks to everyone for so much good info.

Re: I think I\'ve decided...

have you looked at the new ck 20 coming out, also the lk 3054 is just as manuverable as the 2554.

Re: I think I\'ve decided...

The CK20 looks good on paper (real good!), but I think I'll be buying one before it is available. I'd like to make my purchase by mid-February (what idiot decided how to spell "February"?) and I understand that it may be March or April before my local dealer will have one. Also, I can't see it as a big upgrade from the 1914 as far as what it can and can not do.

Re: I think I\'ve decided...

I have the 3054 and the shuttle shift is very easy to use. You should see my wife operate this tractor. Also as you said the KIOTI'S weigh alot more than other brands comparable models. I am not a big fan of the straight geared 2554 though, also it doesn't have a dual stage clutch wich will make a difference for you when you are running your mower or brush hog. Good luck in your decision.

Re: I think I\'ve decided...

KIOTIGUY,

Can you give me a real-world example of how the 2-stage clutch will affect my use of the tractor? I can grasp the general concept okay (I think), but how would it apply to me? Say I'm brush hogging my land--how would the lack of the 2-stage clutch affect what I'm doing? This is probably a silly question for most of you, but I'm just a beginner here. Thanks.

Re: I think I\'ve decided...

if you have a single stage clutch when you engage it you not only release the tranny but the pto as well, a two stage clutch when you engage about 1/2 way you release the tranny but pto will continue to spin, you have to push it all the way down to disengage to pto. Example if you had to back up with a single stage clutch, when you engaged to stop and put tractor in reverse your brush hog would also stop until clutched was released and pto speeds came back up.

Re: I think I\'ve decided...

i have lb1914 and put a buddys brushog on the back when i first got it to try it out. when you push in the clutch the pto stops. so what i have to do is lift the three point hitch up put tractor in gear that i want to mow, let out clutch get moving and slowly let the mower down. a real pain. unless you can set it and mow without stopping till done. if you have a lot of bushogging i would get 2stage clutch. lk3054 is a sweet tractor. but im very happy with 1914 with 54inch loader and 7.5 ft backhoe i even run a 7 ft landscape rake over a sandy camp road with no problem. my wife thinks ive found my true love. good luck with your choice kiotis are great tractors i even have a j.d. buddy considering kioti Wart

Re: I think I\'ve decided...

I probally would have went with the 1914 but my dealer was sold out on those and had to upgrade to the 3054. He really sells alot of the 20-30 hp KIOTIS

Re: I think I\'ve decided...

So I need a dual stage clutch. Got it. Is the 3054 the smallest Kioti with the dual stage clutch? I assume the new CK will have it. What are some other brands in this price range with the dual stage clutch? Does the Kubota B7500DT have the live PTO? Also the Long LandTrac 300 and the Mahindra 2310? Or maybe I shouldn't be talking about other tractors on the Kioti site?

Re: I think I\'ve decided...

mahindra 2310 has an independent pto, which you can turn off or on at any time just push the button, clutch in or out doesnt matter, Something with a 2 stage clutch has live pto, you push the clutch 1/2 way down and the tractor stops but your implement keeps going, all the way down both stop. What ever you buy get either one with live or independent. i think independent is nicer though.
