Tractor
Kubota Grand L 5740, loaded R1's w/640 lbs cast weight, 854 loader
This job is 5.5 acres of grass and weeds averaging about 3.5 feet tall. I have cut this for several years with my rears spf 6 ft flail. No matter the conditions, it has always taken me 2 hours, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less. Today i cut it in 55 minutes. I was surprised because i didnt expect to cut the time in half. There are a few obstacles that i have to work around and i cant get quite as close to them as with the flail but other than that i had no problems with manuvering. Cut quality was good but i didnt like the windrowing of the cut material. Unlike the flail, my tractor knew this 12 footer was there but i still had plenty of power and i never felt the need to slow down. (Other than the rough spots) On this place, i will mow it with whatever i happen to have on my tractor but if i have to hook up to one or the other, im not sure which one i will pick. After all this rambling, my dream machine would be a towable flail with folding wings at about a 15 foot cut.
Ill keep this one for awhile. Sure is going to be better cutting 12 foot at a time instead of just 6 on the 2 jobs i have that are a labor each. (177 acres each in case you didnt know)

Thanks for the review. I almost bought the same unit a few weeks ago. I bid a 40 acre mowing job of a overflow parking area for college football games. I was just a little higher than the low bidder, so I didn't get the job, so I didn't buy the mower. I have a L5740 also, but just bought a new L6060. Glad to hear your tractor can handle the 12' mower.

Batwings make things much quicker as you noticed. It was night and day between my 7' and the 15'. You'll find more places you'd rather mow with it than before

Im looking at buying a M5-111.

We studied those pretty good. When we got to the nut cutting, it was the m5-111, deere 5100e and case 110. The case is the largest with best numbers I believe and a different emission system that was attractive. They had good financing options also. Case/new holland come with a ton of extras that you have to pay for with the other brands. In the end we went with the Deere and glad we did. Price point is nearly the same across the board but I couldn't get used to the shuttle shift with the kubota, and the ergonomics didn't fit me. Also when using the loader just driving around, it made the tractor feel light. Case was a great tractor and a lot for the money but in the end I stuck with Deere.

If you're not stuck on kubota check them out. The Deere has the 24/12 trans and has been the best option I have gotten. Great for running a shredder

Were you running the 1812 with one set of remotes or two?

Thanks Brett. I am pretty stuck on orange but not totally closed minded. I got burned pretty badly by the local deere dealer here but another dealer took care of me finally but i had already moved to orange. I have a while before i decide, i just bought this bush hog, a b2650 and a zero turn. I need to chill for awhile. Imagine that :D

I understand that. It's been an expensive year for us too. I need to start selling blood or something.

Kubota zd1211 and rtv 1100x

I haven't added it up but I feel ya. We switched to orange for mower and buggy but really like the Deere tractors. However, the dealer is a game changer and you have to go where they treat you right

Sounds like you are recalling going to enjoy that BW! I want one but presently have no need but I will be looking for a good reason to justify one.
