Can anybody help me with more info on this motor? It is on a 9N that I just bought....

The serial number is not in sequence like others (ie 9Nxxx or 8Nxxx).....

Mine has AER 2778 stamped in the block. The engine looks just like what is on my 8N so I know it isn't a converted motor or anything.

I'm just dying of curiosity to know more about this motor. I'm sure it isn't original and doesn't look like an industrial engine (from the serial number).

Any thoughts, ideas or information is appreciated.

Perhaps a picture of the actual motor might help ...

Here are some photos. I hope these help.

One of them is the casting code on the header. It starts 2N..... which might give us clues as to the age of the motor.

What is on the aluminum tag behind the dipstick?

It sure looks like the engine on my 2n unless someone replaced the block with an industrial block at some point.

Just a guess....Possibly this is an AER rebuilt engine? They have been in business for 60 years.

AER - Manufacturing

Judging by the serial number prefix, I'd say your guess holds water. I am going to contact them and see if they can tell me production dates from the engine rebuild. I'm just curious about it.

I am also trying to date the tractor itself... This image is what is on one of the rear axels. Looks like 4013 B followed by a pentagon. You cannot see the 9N which is in the shadow of this image. So, "9N 4013 B ⬠"

Does that date it in any way? IMAG3523.jpg

I'm not sure, I found a lot of info on mine from yesterdays tractors they deal in the old stuff.

Hope you have good luck
