When we were doing nuclear bomb testing in the fifties, vast areas controlled by the government were given designations, that referenced a huge grid pattern. So you had Area 1 ..... 40.... 51... ect. The Groom Lake site, of the Edwards Air Force base, is located in one of these areas.... Area 51.
