I just bought a new LS compact 47 horse tractor. I didn't get the 3rd function set up for a grapple in the front. I was told I could run longer hoses from the rear connections, to the front for this propose. Is this true? If so, do I simple buy two hoses?

Welcome! Most likely yes. Which tractor did you purchase? Year and Model please.

some maybe / some maybe not.

do you have a hydro loop in the back already feeding a backhoe or rear remotes (if so what type of remotes)

There are 4 connections I haven't gotten that far in the manual yet. Hydro loop???

Hydro loop is basically a way to splice in for a backhoe, NOT what you want to use for a grapple.

You can run a backhoe off your rear remotes if you want. If you have two, that probably means you have one floating detent and one and a self canceling. I'd use the self canceling. You're going to need two very long hoses to reach from the rear remote to the grapple. The other thing is you have to move your hand from your loader joystick to the rear remote for grapple manipulation which would be a royal pain.

Honestly for the extra 100-200 cost difference between really long hoses then trying to figure out how to route them/mount them/keep them safe or buying the kit, it's a no brainer for me just to get a kit.

I think your model should have come with 2 rear remotes so you could tap into on of these hydro circuits.

I had a tractor while back that tapped into front loader lines with an electrical divertor valve. Costs around $500 complete to go that route plus hoses and odds and sods. see pic of sample kit. Or if open some try and use rear remotes themselves if available and not being used for something else.

now I just go 3rd function plumbed in power beyond (or similar) not too much more $ and cleaner and more long term stable install IMHO

IF the tractor actually has "remote" fittings....meaning you have the female rear couplers and a lever that operates them....then yes long hoses will work just fine.

The only drawback to doing that....is usually the lever to operate the remotes is NOT in a convenient spot in comparison to the front loader. Meaning you have to move you hand off the loader controls to the remote lever every time you want to open and close the grapple. So for a few odd jobs it would suffice.....but definitely not something I'd want to operate all day.

Either a diverter or an electric 3rd function is much more ergonomic as there will be a button on your loader joystick. And your hand never has to leave the control lever

You can run hoses from the rear remotes to the front. I did it and use them to operate a hydraulic thumb on my forks and to angle a snow plow in winter. Bought hose and fittings at tractor supply. Ran them under the tractor and zip tied in place. I posted a thread listing all materials used but couldn't find it using this sites search function.
