I didn't address your last post, cuz I figgered how you did stuff in Arkansas probably stayed in Arkansa. But to use a 1/4" bolt in a 3/8" bolt hole that has to absorb the inertial shock of starting a rotary cutter - is just asking for trouble.

actually using a 1/4 inch bolt works pretty well. the few times I have broken one I just replaced it. they are something like 1.95 a pound at tsc so i have a bunch of them. We do things different in arkansas that is for sure. But it pretty well suits us and we manage to achieve the results that we need to.
