Hi all,
I am going to try and tackle digging out for a Bilco Door / Perm-entry pre cast concrete stairs for a basement access into my house with my BX22.
PermEntry Basement Entrance - Detail information for PermEntry Basement Entrance
I was instructed by the contractor who is going to drop the precast form into the hole and bolt it to my foundation that I should dig down ~80 inches to the bottom of the foundation footer x 8 foot wide and slope it up back from the foundation out 84 inches. Since my BX22's backhoe reach is somewhat less than 80 inches I was wondering if it was worth it to dig out a foot or so "pocket" in which by BX could sit in (to gain the reach) or maybe just drop a box or trash can in the hope and dig by hand.
Has anyone done something like this?
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
~Jim
