Kubota BX24
I bought my BX24 new in 2008. I am very happy with it. It's got about 600 hours on the clock. What I'm wondering is if it would be worth it to sell it and buy a new BX25D. What would I be gaining as far as features? I know I would like the new metal hood and fenders. The implements I have for the 24 I would keep for the 25, and swap my roof onto the new one. The way I figure it, I could get around 12k out of mine as it sits and only finance 7-8k and have a brand new machine. What do you think?

What about emissions eqt., is the 25 choked down with stuff my 24 doesn't have?

I had a BX2350 and the main issue I had with it was the abrupt stop in reverse which you've dealt with for 600 hours of actual use so may not be an issue for you or a many thousands of dollars issue.
I also had a BX25 and it was one of my favorite Kubotas. Traded it to a B2620 FEL BH which I now admit was a mistake to trade to a new BX25D-1 which I assumed would be as good or better than my last BX25. NOT!!!!
My current BX25D-1 performs like the old BX25 but no where near as strong as the B2620 FEL BH. Now for the NOT part. The improvements on the current BX25D-1 are the pits after coming from a former BX. The brake on the left is OK unless you have 600 hours with the brake being on the right. Seems like that shouldn't be a big deal but I think it is after right braking for so long. The digital gauges are no better or worse than the earlier gauges. Not sure earlier models had arm rests but current BX25D-1 does. Seems my other BX25 performed stronger or this one performs weaker but that may be because I came from the B2620 directly to this BX25D-1. Now the horror starts or for me it's horror and I believe it will be for you after 600 hours of using a tractor that stops when you let off the go pedal (really stops in reverse :) ). The current BX25D-1 does't stop when you let off the go pedal, you have to apply the brakes if you want it to stop for sure when and where you want it to stop. If you just drove into be piles of whatever and backed up and rolled along dumping the whatever it may not matter. If you've been using FEL and easing up to your dump point you'll hate it because you'll have to remember that you have to mash the brake that is now on the left side to stop it where you want it to stop. Dynamic braking is gone. I believe Kubota will change/fix/correct mistake eventually just like on the BXxx50 series (yours) abrupt stop but they won't fix the already sold models. Just Kubotas way of operation which is the biggest down side of Kubota Corporate structure of recalls if it's a seat bolt but not major issues like the abrupt stop and now the no stop in forward. If you do it I'd sure recommend a test drive at the dealer and then say no until the dynamic braking issue/defect is fixed. :2cents:

Thanks John, not sure I would like these changes. Maybe I'll just put a new seat on her and ride her into the sunset.

I got the brand-new model BX25 in the fall of 2008, when it changed from the BX24 to BX25. Given the experiences of Johnthomas, I don't think I would be at all interested in getting the new BX25D-1. I am very happy with my BX25, as it has all of the upgrades from the BX24, and none of the problems that Johnthomas has experienced. Even so, upgrading would cost you a lot of money for very little gain, so I would stick with what you have!

To be fair and accurate, while Mr. Thomas's BX25 may exhibit that issue, and while I've read that other's have experienced that issue, it apparently doesn't impact all newer BX25s, at least not mine that I purchased new in December, 2014. In forward, mine stops very quickly irrespective of hi/low/2wd/4wd. If mine exhibited behavior that I didn't find satisfactory I would first have the dealer look at it and document it, and if not properly repaired I would engage Kubota, Inc, and if still no satisfaction I would contact the DOT/NTSB in the US. Not sure what the equivalent Government organizations are around the world. Another avenue would be a court date against Kubota for a refund if that's the direction of choice, but again, mine has no braking issues, I guess I was lucky... :confused2: Good luck.

Do you want to trade yours for the one I have? :D
