I've seen many dealer sites that have a model 190-032 snow thrower and a model 190-823 snow thrower both specifically for the 1000 and 1500 series tractors. THere is also a 190-341 model for the 2000 series.

I have a SLT1554
1) Are the front ends of the 1500 and the 2000 series tractors similar enough for me to try and buy the 190-341 model? There are many good posts out here recommending the shaft driven thrower (shaft driven inside the thrower and attaches to the PTO belt on the tractor)?

2) Does anyone know the differences in the two models specifically built for the 1000/1500 series? Again many posts advising "get the newer one", but I don't knowing which one that is???

My dealer tells me that I shouldn't buy any one of them and that I should buy a $1599 Toro walk behind...

Why does your dealer say that, Mine is from MTD. It is a unversal 42 inch snow thrower and it works fantastic. You will need tire chains. Mine walks through a foot of snow with no problem

Cub Cadet 1000 Series Tractors

I also use the snow cab with mine. I love it

Actually I agree with your dealer,,I had a snow blower assy for my 1450 cub.It did a great job but --it took a lot of time changing over from mower to blower, Remove mower deck, put chains on,put weights on,hang blower assy.then it took up almost as much room as a small car in the garage.I found a used Ariens snow blower for 500 bucks many years ago, it takes up almost no room, manuvers much better does as good or better a job as the cub. and I'm not putting the wear and tear on the cub during the winter. So I sold the blower unit from the cub. (And I get an adverage 120-160 inches of snow here)

I would rather run my tractor year round than let it sit all winter. Once it is set up it is easy. I have a 700 foot drive and can do it in 3 passes in about 1/2 hour. My shop only has tractors and tools in them anyway, I would never waste a garage on a car. I would much rather sit in my snow cab and drive the blower than stand behind it with 1/2 the cut

Want to say THANKS for the responses. I'm going with the 190-032. And much like Timber I'd like to keep my tractor in use all-year-round.

For deck removal I'd thought that I could jack the mower up and set it on stands in order to remove the deck easier. Anyone have any personal preferences or tips for how to effectively remove the deck.

You should be able to just disconnect the deck and slide it out, sometimes need to turn the steering wheel a bit to clear the deck wheels. Jacking the front end a few inches for clearance might be needed, not sure on the 1554.

The main drawback to tractor mount blowers is maneuveribility. For a large or long driveway they are great, for a smaller drive the walk behind is easier to turn. Then again its just fun to run the tractor in the winter, I used to plow with mine and though not very effective in heavy snow it was a lot of fun.

Just looked at your location. You mean with all that hot air in that location you need to remove snow ?? I would think it would melt from just from being downwind from the wind bags !!

Let the guys know how it works as there has been numerous questions about the comparisons. I prefer a plow, but then I have open space in which to push it. I actually use both in heavy snows.

Timber,
Where did you get the cab? I have a 2542 and I've been looking for a cab.
