JBAR B700-2420 Disc Harrow - Anyone used one?

I've got a 64" Woods (Kioti DH2064 / Woods DHS64) harrow that I'm looking to replace with something larger. Would love a Brown or similar but no more than I use a harrow its hard to justify. My dealer has an 8' JBAR that is priced closer to the use I'll probably give it but I hate to buy stuff that doesn't last or has issues. I did some reviews and all of the info I find is from 10+ years ago. At that time, it didn't seem to favor JBAR brand but I know things change.

Weight wise, the 8' model comes in at 885lbs according to their website which seems on par with most brands outside of the ones like Brown, Tuff Line, etc. Anyone had one and experienced any issues or buyers remorse? Thanks.

Your thoughts run along the same vein as mine - txbonds. A Brown disk/harrow. But what little I would use it - a waste of money.

However - I do have a very HD disk/harrow of UKN brand. I tried it behind my first tractor - Ford 1700 4WD - no joy. The unit is just too heavy. Now - behind my M6040 it really tears up the ground.

I use this very old, very heavy disk to scuff up and tear up select areas. I follow up with my LPGS with scarifiers set about three inches deep.

It's a slow process because the disk is quite narrow. But the end product is satisfactory.

885 pounds / 24 disks = 37 pounds pressure on each disk.

If you buy this disk you should entertain only modest expectations for soil movement.

It takes 50 pounds pressure on each disc to really cut.

Personally I would require an 1-1/8" axle on an 885 pound disk. 1-1/8" axle is much, much more robust than the plus 1/8" in diameter would seem to indicate.

Buy a Disk with pans 22" or 24" in diameter approximately 18" wider than the outside width of your tractor's tires. Thick pans are desirable, that is where the weight is.

(Disk Harrow widths are always quoted "straight" but Disks are never used straight, they are always used angled.)

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up passing on the Jbar. After looking at umpteen harrows at the Sunbelt Expo last week, I had decided to hold out for a 16/22 Brown harrow. However, while surfing FB Marketplace, I came across something interesting.

A new Atlas 16/22 harrow with tube frame at approximately 960 lbs. I think it only has a 1” axle vs the Brown 1-1/8, but otherwise it’s a beast. That said, for my limited use, I’m betting it will be fine. Price wise, it was less than 1/2 the Brown so it was hard to pass up. Had to cram it into the trailer I had handy but it worked. LOL

EDIT: As I’ve tried to find this harrow online, I’m not finding it anywhere. The Atlas 1500 16x22 online looks different and lists a weight of 1,680 lbs and 7’. I measured this one at 6’ but it’s obviously 16x22 and appears to be made by Atlas. I don’t have a way to weigh it, but it might be way heavier than I thought based on what I’m finding. I’m thinking it may be an older model Atlas 500 series that they don’t make anymore.
