Oil & Fuel JD 2320 Hydraulic Fluid Check

HI All,,
I need some help with understanding my tractors transmission needs this winter. When cold, 20s or teens my sight window shows no fluid at all. If I operate it for a while it returns to the 3/4 level where it should be. My question is ; if I operate believing the level is ok, but its not, what damage could result? How can I be sure of the fluid level if I can't trust the sight window? Thanks in advance for your help.'..........phil

Fluid level should be checked when cool.
Manual says to let machine set for one hour
All implements should be lowered.
Fluid should be 3/4 up on site glass

I wonder if your machine has a dip stick located down by where the range lever meets the housing? I have one on mine with no mention of it in the manual. Mine is a twin to the 2720. But the two fluid levels are not equal. If i go by the sight glass at half way the dipstick shows it is over filled. I would bet your machine has the dipstick on it. You'll need a flash light and look really close just forward of the range lever.

Thanks for the reply. My concern is when it is cold, low 20s or lower no fluid shows in the sight glass with all hydraulics lowered, per the manual. The glass is white and does not show any fluid until all is warmed up. I have no way of knowing the actual fluid level initially, just have to hope it's good. If it is low, will the machine just not move or will serious damage result. Guess I need to consult the dealer to see if this is common for the 2320.
