2006 John Deere 3320
Hey All,

Got a great deal on a Beautiful JD 3320 2006 300SX loader Gearmore HD 9" auger and 60" scraper with Carson 10k HD car hauler trailer.
Long story short then to my questions. Guy I know bought it in Feb. 2007 So. Cal. put 27hrs on it then had it serviced by large JD dealer - oil filter, fuel filter, some TY6389 QT plus 50, some TY22008 Torq-Gard and some other misc.
Then put it in good enclosed storage until I took it off his hands March 8, 2015 Yes 3 days ago I drove 4 hrs with a buddy who is a fire sprinkler guy (knows alot about diesel fire sprinkler pumps) who was my "help me figure out how to work this tractor and get it on the car hauler" guy - I'm new to tractors.
So from posting on this site prior to picking it up I learned - get the old fuel out and put in new - so we drained aprox. 10 gals out and put 3 new gals in - was not able to change fuel filter but will soon.
1) The oil dip stick showed oil full and obviously very new/clean looking. Question - Should I just figure on draining all and put in new oil and filter? Now my understanding from reading in forums here is that the tractor comes with a break in oil that should stay for min 50 hrs poss 100 hrs - now the service invoice seems to show when oil was changed the standard oil was put in not more of the break in oil. I called the place that he had purchased the tractor from (different than the place that did service prior to storage) and the guy told me to deff change oil and filter because of storage time but to just keep going with the standard oil - I had asked him if I should put more of the break in oil in until I reach 50 hrs he said no since standard was put in.

2) coolant was a little low so we put in regular tap water (1/2 gal maybe to top of radiator) to run tractor onto trailer and load scraper. Now the same guy above said to drain all out and replace with proper 50/50 coolant which I had read also not to put regular water in because corrosion likely down road. I'm sure you would concur will full coolant change??

3) My understanding with tranny and hydrolics because of being sealed with no moisture intrusion that aside from checking levels I should be ok???????

4) In learning how to drive and operate this tractor we did not turn the knob below the front off the seat (rockshaft rate of drop control knob) I think it was turned all the off - we had some hydrolic fluid spill out and muck up the back area of my new tractor. Question - with 6 years of inside dirt build up and the mucking oil on the back side can I spray a de-greaser on it and spray off and then just wash the tractor like I would my car?????

By the way this tractor as it sits coming out of storage with just new fuel seems to purrrrrrr like a 2900# kitten

Thanks for your help/advice

Max

Max-nice find!
Oil?-Just run it awhile and maybe change a little early since it's been sitting.
If there really is break-in oil,the dealer didn't feel the need to continue using it so why shoukd you?
Coolant?-It was probably low from evaporation of the water, not the coolant itself.
You still have a 50/50 mix with a little minerals from the tap water.
Change it out with the proper 50/50 coolant after a little use, just to freshen-up the coolant-no big rush!
Fuel/fitler?-It probably would have run fine on the orignal fuel, diesel stores very well.
If you happen to have algae growing in the fuel(doubtful)your filter will be full of black junk soon.
Otherwise,no filter change needed at this time.
Hydraulics-good to go.
Degreaser should be fine to remove the messy area, but can we help with the fluid/valve problem?
Good Luck!

number two thanks for your response.

I kinda felt that way about the oil
makes sense about the coolant - minor minerals won't kill it soon
I still have my two 5 gal buckets of diesel capped and sealed - maybe put it in 50/50 with new diesel to use it up?? no growth in it just different odor
I believe the fluid / valve issue was my mistake rear auger trying to do something for a few secs but hydrolic flow not set to allow it to flow or something like that - works great now just need to get more familiar with it.
I'll wash her up and get some pics up.

Thanks again,
Max
