Hi: I followed this link and I can't seem to get any useful info. Apparently I need some number other than 4000-72 to identify this mower. It seems that you have to have a parts list in front of you to use this parts search.

Does anyone know of a link to online JD owners manuals and part lists? I am fairly computer literate but I have searched the JD site many times to no avail.
Thanks, Marshall

Hi: I am answering my own question here. I found the JD page for the online manuals but most of the manuals are not viewable. Some of the links have a "view" button next to them and some do not. Unfortunately the 72" MMM link does not work.
Here is the links to the JD page:

Did you call your local dealer and ask them to check on that part number and serial number?

Hi: No, I haven't talked to the dealer yet. I might on Monday.

Try that as I find they are usually willing to look up part numbers. That serial number can tell the dealer what it is and where it has been - depending on the info available on the JD DB.

When you go to the parts catalog, type in 72 for the model number. It will display a list of several model 72. The one you are looking for is catalog 2667. If you then click on the sectional index, you can go to the 72 inch mower for the 4200, 4300, and 4400 tractors. Also according to the serial number it was sold originally in Aug. 2000 from the dealer in Weaverville N.C. It also looks like you are missing most of the mounting linkage. You might be able to find a complete kit lying around at a dealer.

Great info, Thanks. By looking at the pictures it seems that I have the deck made for my 4300! What luck!

That happens to be the dealership that I prefer. Although the owner decided to call it quits about 2 months ago and headed off for tall timbers. The same employees still work there and they still sell JD parts but not JD tractors. Where did you get the SN info?

And the few linkage parts that I do have are bent.
Thanks, Marshall

Sorry for piggybacking on a message but I have a deck just like this one and it probably is time for me to change the gearbox oil. Anyone have some tips. It looks like i have to disasseble the deck to remove the gearbox??
