JD 4115 compact tractor pricing?!?!?!

I'm not familiar with the 4115, but when you said you changed the fuel filter, are you sure there is only one? It sounds like you changed the filter in the sediment bowl/water separator. I know with my 2520 there is also a spin on filter on the side of the engine just before the injection pump.

There's just the one in the line at the sediment bowl on the 4115.

Your welcome, I didn't mean to sound defensive, reading what I wrote now I can see how it came across that way
It's all good.

Travis, shavings are pretty normal, especially if the was the first time the fluid was changed and/or it was cleaned. Was the fluid red by chance? If so it was probably the factory fill and never changed before.

Good to hear about the shavings, wow I thought that was wierd when I drained the red fluid, i used the JD hy-gard low viscosity hydro oil that I use in my x475. hopefully i didnt use the wrong fluid?

Nope, that's the correct fluid.

It sounds like maybe someone used type F trans fluid in it before if it was red colored, which is a big no-no. Maybe they had a lot on hand, or were just used to the way things were in earlier times with hydro transmissions.

Kenny mentioned it may be the original fluid in there, did they use red fluid back in 03?

Not that I know of. I've owned three JD CUTs from 2001 (4500 bought new in late 2002), 2002 )4110) and 2004 (4115). The first two I bought brand new and they did not come with a red colored fluid in them. They came with a fluid that looked to me just like Low-Vis Hy-Guard right from the factory. IIRC, the manual for my 4110 was the same exact one I have for my 4115, and I don't recall it saying anything about the break-in oil being different. I know my 4500 came with Hy-Guard, but that was a Pow'r Reverser trans, so it may have had different requirements right from the jump, but the fluid in my 4110 was the same exact color as Low Vis Hy-Guard.

Maybe Kenny can shed some light on this as I can't get into JD Parts right now to confirm anything one way or the other.

The smaller Yanmar made machines all had a red dye in the fluid to help identify leaks, JD even sells this dye in small bottles now (I can get the part number later). My 4110 as well as all the 2210, 2305 4010 (And your 4115 RG) all had "red" fluid from that factory.

That's interesting. My 4110 was an early 2002 model. I pay pretty close attention to all this stuff, especially when I buy something new. It didn't have the red fluid in it, I know that for sure. Just plain light golden Hy-Guard, and I did buy that one new with only a couple tenths of an hour on it. Do you know when the red dye additive started taking place? If it was right from the start of that 4X10 series, I wonder why mine didn't have it.

My current 4115 may well have had red fluid at first. I bought it used and the fluids had all been changed at least once.
