I was looking at my tractor yesterday and it appears there is a coolant bypass line from the block (just behind cooling fan) to the thermostat housing (on radiator side of thermostat). Is that correct? If so it looks like there is a 1/2" diameter pipe connection on the thermostat manifold. Does anyone know how the seal is made inside to prevent coolant leakage inside that thermostat housing? How would you remove that pipe? On the end toward the block (adjacent to cooling fan) it has a rubber hose clamp which would be easy to remove. Also, it appears this 1/2" diameter pipe is blocking access to one of the 2 hex head bolts that attach the thermostat housing. How get a wrench on that bolt? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks so much. Sounds straightforward. Still wondering how that bypass pipe seals inside the housing? I guess when you pull it out it will be self-explanatory. Thinking rotating the pipe to left side makes the jont pull in to seal; perhaps a quarter-turn thread.

If you go to JD parts (URL below) and look up thermostat cover you will see there is a rubber seal, that goes into the cover and the tube goes into that seal.
