JD 5105 fault code on dash display

hello all, first of all let me say the tractor is starting and functioning as of now BUT.....

i have had the same surging problems as a recent poster with a 5103 and i do believe it is the in tank filter screen but for some reason it runs fine at 530 pto rpm for 2 to 3 hours before the surging starts.

what i am hoping someone can help me with is today when i started it on the dash display was 00 followed by 2 blank spaces and then 00 again. the tractor started and ran fine for the hour or so i used it.

in the interest of full disclosure both i and the previous owner have used the tractor for some pretty heavy land clearing and as a result there is some wiring harness functions that have been absent for years, fuel gauge, some rear lights and the pto and seat switches have only functioned once or twice in the ten years or so i have owned it. in the last year or so the tach worked off and on but today reads 10,000 constantly.

i checked with the dealer for harness's and was told the engine harness is obsolete.

the electrical issues are still present but haven't effected the operation of the tractor so far.
The fuel line replacement solved the surging issues and as of now all is well other than the need for a couple of wheel studs.
Also just in case it may help somebody down the road while I was still dealing with the surging issue I was talking to the farmer that I buy hay from and he had a surging issue on a 5103 that turned out to be a fuel pump problem, he was able to solve it by installing a inline fuel pump from one of the chain auto parts stores for very little money.
