3-Point Hitch JD 5410 Help - Make or Buy 3pt Arm Telescoping Stabilizers

I recently purchased a used JD 5410 and I really like it a lot with one exception. The 3pt hitch arm stabilizers are the turn buckle type and I don't like them. Won't go into all the reasons why (they freeze up, there hard to adjust etc) but I want to change them out for telescoping stabilizers. My questions are:

1. Can't seem to find any that fit this tractor. I have found some that may work but they seem to be built for smaller tractors. Can anyone suggest a stock pair that will fit this tractor?

2. May need to fabricate a pair. Has anyone done this and can you give some directions on how you did it?

I have a similar machine. The turn buckles give infinite adjustments. I did spray the threads with oil to keep them turning smoothly.

Reason for my reply... What's the tube under the tractor transmission housing? And you're missing the holding rod on the top link. It fits into the tab with the loose flapper. The flapper locks the rod in place. THat's important since dropping the cast iron top link could damage the PTO shaft.

To each their own, I traded in my 5400 Deere on a 9540 Orange tractor that came with the telecoping sway control. I doubt that they'd swap, but I'd swap in a second with you for the old turnbuckles.

I think that tube is his exhaust pipe. My 6415 uses the telescoping style. Since it's an "economy" version of the 6420 it only came with one sway control. I bought a second one off ebay. Sure it must be a copy and not genuine JD, but it looks and works the same for a lot less $$$

Thanks for your reply... I have ordered the bent wire hanger for center top link as suggested and the PTO top shield cover.

The tube seen under the tractor is the exhaust.

I have the next size and 1 series newer. The 5520. The 5520 has telescopic sway bars. They may fit your 5410. Call one of the tractor bone yards. The may have a pair from a 5420. There is a bone yard in st. Johns, MI

Interesting reply's. I had turnbuckles on my last 2 Kubota's and got along fine with them. The L series was better than the little B series, but never really had much trouble with them..but I have got to say I really appreciate my telescoping stabilizers on the Kioti, along with the telescoping lower link ends. It is easier and faster to get hooked up set up.

I have made 5 or 6 sets and not hard to make them. On your tractor you might have to grind some of the metal off below the hole where they mount on the tractor.

I have a 5520 and the basics are just like yours. As noted, I'd check the boneyards and get a set that way. Not much to them anyway. Making them seems so much harder and detracts from the originality of the machine unless it's a 100% perfect job. The ones you already have are turnbuckle and while I don't like them either, you may be stuck with them. They aren't all that bad and the cure may wind up worse than you already have.
If you want, I could post photos of my 5520 brackets to help with things.
