JD 5520 brake loss after hard use. Any ideas?

You are never going to believe what the problem was. Now, I'm not sure it's fixed but after a lot of testing and diagnostics I think the problem was discovered. TxJim got it mostly right.

What apparently happened was one of the SCV handles did not get used in a long time and was sort of stuck in neutral. It was not stuck one way or the other but in neutral. As weird as that sounds, the dealer tech guy says it's the only thing he can find and he has seen it happen before. It's because I never use that particular hydraulic outlet. You can bet I will now.

This is probably fixed because the problem existed before the sticky handle was discovered and went away after it was fixed. I'll know for 100% when I grunt it out in tillage in a week or two. No hydraulic straining/bypass was ever heard. Five hours of running and checking and a fair amount of fuel.

Note to all of us here to use your SCV valve or at least work the handles occasionally to keep things loose.

It was the advice here that tilted me in the direction to figure this out. I had never heard of this type of thing and neither had anyone else. Thanks, guys for saving me a lot of time.
