Price Check JD 870 Pricing

Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase my first tractor. new is out so i have been scanning the posts for used model info and prices. I have zeroed in on an 870. It has a bit under 1300 hours and has been kept in immaculate condition. It is mfwd, has no FEL. Excellent maintenance history. What is the right price range for this one? I'll mostly mow about 5-7 acres and work in the garden (a tiller will be in order by next spring). The tires are ag and in excellent shape. The owner says he has never had it on asphalt- tires look real good.

The 870 I purchased last March had 715 hours, and was in good condition as it had been a lease return that was used by the local strawberry farmers for pulling wagons. The base price at the JD Dealer, without the FEL or BB, was 8K. The 770 was 1K less, however per the specs and so forth the 870 is a much better machine and accordingly well worth the difference. It's a good machine, and you should be pleased with it.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to talk the owner down a bit from $8K. It is obvious from looking at it, that the owner has loved it. He simply "acquired" more property to keep up and needed a bigger machine. He bought green again! There appears to be a lot of difference in machine when you move from a 790 to an 870. More lift capacity, a bit heavier machine, larger tires to name a few.

I just recently sold my 1992 model JD870 for 10,000. IT had a loader and a 5ft mower, with 250 hours on it. It was kept in a heat garage. Near perfect condition. I live West Virginia, maybe location has something to say too. The dealer was only going to give me 4,000 on a trade in.
