Howdy. Couldn't get the search to work very well, so I will post up my question here.

Got an '07 JD 990 mfwd. 300cx loader. I'm wanting to run a rake in the summer and my log splitter in the winter. Tractor does not come with rear hydraulic connections, so I have been looking for power beyond so I don't have to unhook the hydraulics for the loader.

Anyone ever install power beyond on a 990?

Deere list power beyond for your 990 for $237. You will still need a valve. JC

Thanks JC.

Do you have any pics or links to pics which show the mounting of the control valve?

I installed a power beyond on my 990 mainly to use my log splitter. No need for a valve to use the splitter, and I can't speak to the rake. The kit is complete with hard lines, bracket, connectors and jumper hose. It takes a few hours to install with most of the time spent removing components to access the connections.

I don't have a 990, I just looked up the price on the Deere website. JC

I finally talked to my dealer and he said the same thing. No valve needed. It's just continous pressure to the connections. I talked to him about running a ground activated wheel rake. Basically just need hydro to lift the arms. He said power beyond would be no help for that. In order to run the rake, I would need to take the bucket off and use the hydro outlets that run the curling of the bucket to run my rake arms. I was under the impression that I would to completely remove my loader just to run the rake, and I wasn't happy about that. As is, I can leave the loader on and just unhook the curling hoses, leaving the main up/down hoses connected. That makes it easier to go unhook the rake and put the spear on and start loading bales while the baler is still running.
Other than a crappy location of the current hydro outlets, I have no need for power beyond. I can run some hoses to the rear for my log splitter (and rake)and save the $237.

With power beyond, you can add a valve and have a rear remote. Several have done it on 2520's because no rear remote is optional. Search in here or the hydraulic section. You can also add a diverter. If you want to use a log splitter, you will have to use your joystick to operate it, unless you add power beyond. JC

Just as RTR said,
You can plumb a valve to the PB loop, then you can power your splitter and anything else:D

The estimated cost will be about $500.00 not including the PB kit. I can talk you though plumbing it when your ready.

It will be interesting to see if you get a response. This thread was last updated in 2007.
