( I never thought that trailer would make it home in one piece. )

I had faith in my little $500 trailer from Lowes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif The only time I've ever worried about it was the time I was buying materials for the kids'/decoration shed. An 8x16 w/ pressure treated 2x8s for the floor. It was a newer forklift operater. He litterally dropped the around 3500 lb. load onto the trailer from about 18". Ended up having to stop, unhook the trailer because the tires were rubbing the fenders. Monica & my Dad went to get his truck (my truck was already overload w/ other stuff) to unload those soaking wet 2x8s. I later discovered that it cracked one of the cross members - still need to get that fixed. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Looks real good Jim. Keep up the work. It'll be nice to work on the vehicles, tractor and whatever else comes up on that nice floor. Congrats and of course keep keeping us updated on the progress. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When I think about "pole barns", this isn't what comes to mind. Your project is taking shape very nicely. The big plus for me, I don't have to feel bad about how long my garage is taking to finish.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

We had just over 14 1/2 ton of limestone brought in. It made for a pretty decent approach. He did a great job of tailgating in. Left me a little pile by the apron that I was able to rake by hand / push with the tractor right up against the cement. I think it then took me maybe 10 minutes with the loader and roller to level and pack. I told him we would drive on it for a month or so and then I would have him bring another load in to fix any spots that settle and redress the entire driveway. One thing that has come up, he was trying to stay relatively close to the existing drive. This ended up causing the new approach to curve a little bit too much. You have to make sure when you are backing out to immediately start cutting the wills to the right or you will "fall" off the edge of gravel. One of the plans is to put landscaping timbers or whatever I come with to keep the gravel and grass apart.

Another shot of the apron and gravel. Along with some of the 2x4s left from various activities. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here is a shot of the circuit box. When I put the conduit in, I missed where the box ended up being. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I bent the pipe/conduit as much as I could and then I put in a meter offset to get those last couple of inches. I really don't think it'll cause any problems. Guess I'll find out when Jerry (Inspector507) comes down to "Inspect." /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here is a picture of the work bench that I made last weekend. The side by the light (which by the way is the only working light in the whole place other then that garage door openers) is 8' the other side is 12'. I'll eventually take some of that OSB standing in the corner and make a shelf for the bottom. But for right now I need a place to work and to get the countertop out of the way. I bought the countertop for $5. It is warped a little bit, but I was able to pull most of the warp out. Makes it real easy to clean up vs. plywood or something similar.

Here is a closer view of the long side. You can see it has a cut out for a sink. I'll eventually add that as well. Glad I thought ahead and put some extra drains in along the other 2 solid walls. You can also see the motto of the garage.

Re: Jim\'s Pole Barn Project - hopefully

Here is the drain pipe the sink will run to. Also you can see one of my duplex outlets for the work bench. Once I build the interior walls, I'll put more outlets above the work bench. For now though I just added a duplex at each end. The only poles above the work bench are the corner post (I can't reach it) and above the sink - didn't think that would be a good idea even with GFCI.

Blue and green getting along. You can also see the "other" Honda in the pic. This was my cousin's, and then mine, and now finally my kids'. I used to have a blast on this thing and used to use it to help my sister carry her newspaper route.
