2002 Jinma 224
Hello all, I am reaching out through the forum seeking help. So here goes; I own a 2002 JINMA 224 no FEL though it does have the hydraulic line QC for one. I bought it new, may have had 2 hours showing on it. Over the years I had a few mechanical issues. Fuel line – minor problem, 3 yrs ago starter problem solved by rebuild shop $99.00. In spring of 2022 I hopped on started up and as I pulled out of the shed noticed there was very little steering and the lift would not work. After moving a few feet I backed it back in shed. Finished what I was going to do with another tractor (New Holland). Couple of days later I got on the computer searching for this problem. Figured out it had a hydraulics issue as I thought, checked hydraulic fluid level and not enough to touch stem but no leaks so where is the fluid. When I checked the engine oil level gray fluid shot out like a geyser. UhuuOooo found the hydraulic fluid mixed in with the engine oil. More in depth computer searches resulted with hydraulic pump. Assuming it was bad I ordered one from Tommy Affordable Tractor, discussed the issue and he suggested a possible dead head resulting in a new pump warranty issue. He told me to drain oil level down to normal level, put on new pump, add hydraulic fluid to proper level and run it to see if it’s fixed then change the oil. Too late on drain the oil I had already drained the gray fluid out, put on new filter and added oil. OK now started it up steering works fine, the lift is working fine feel real good about things. I used the 224 about an hour that spring starting my garden. After parking in shed I thought I should check the oil and sadly the dip stick came out again with gray color coating but not gushing out. Checked the hydraulic level and yelp, it’s down. Few weeks later I went out to drain the oil (gray fluid) down to normal running level. When I unscrewed the drain plug this time got some water (radiator fluid) starting to come out. I screwed the plug back in and got a jar to catch what was draining out until it turned to gray oil/fluid which I caught in another jar (see pic). I checked the radiator, now needs fluid, noting I added just a little more antifreeze than what is in jar to top off radiator. I don’t believe there was any antifreeze in the first gray fluid drained before putting on new pump, but I did not do a die test, also noting it didn't need additional radiator fluid.

So it looks like I now need a head gasket. This tractor is branded JINMA 224, the engine is tagged TY295 Yancheng Tractor Factory.(see pic) So far it looks like I am the only person in the United States who owns a JINMA 224 tractor with a TY295 engine (2 cylinders). Every place I have spoken with tells me they don’t have a head gasket for that engine. I spoke with Keno in Oregon; Nan said they didn’t have that head gasket. I told her my problem. She did ask me if I had the hydraulic hose with connect for FEL and if so the dead head problem was probably at that connection. She said it’s not if it fails but when it fails, it causes fluid flow problem. (After my conversation with Nan I did replace the QC with new purchased at local Farm Supply store.) I called Circle G, a man there told me JINMA tractors don’t have the TY295 engine and the tractor is not JINMA. He said he was sorry but he couldn’t help me. I use to get parts @ Circle G when Phillip Gouch owned it in Lamar, MS about an hour away. I checked with Affordable Tractors no luck either and Tommy explained how it’s an uncommon engine and how I ended up with a JINMA that has the TY295 engine. YELP that’s the story of my JINMA life… If I ever get a head gasket, preferably a gasket kit, there is a diesel shop that has worked on this tractor and will make the repair. The tag on engine does have a phone number for Yancheng Tractor Factory but I could not make out the first 2 numbers. After some hours on the PC I found the complete phone number for Yancheng Tractor Works (86-515-831-3688). I haven’t tried calling the number and if I did get an answer I figure I’ll get someone that I can’t understand. Of course they won’t understand this Ole Man in Mississippi. I really do want to get my 224 repaired. I do miss using it.
{if I had money runnin out my nose I’d blow it on a new tractor…. But itsnot} ....so I’m lookin for any help or suggestions.

We owned a FarmPro 2420 with the 2 cyl engine. When we sold the farm to my brother in law he used it for a few more years but sold it. I never had to do anything to the engine other than routine maint like valve adjs (I did retorque the head bolts to spec when I did the valve adjs) and fluid changes. It ran fine and never had the dead head problem on ours. All we did with was cut grass so not heavy use. Maybe 50 hours a year would be a good guess. As for parts, I always used Tommy at Affordable. I'd order parts on Monday and they'd be here on Friday. I'd fix it on Saturday and use it that day. (when parts were needed at least as mostly it never really broke down) At the time Tommy had whole engines available for cheap. $850 at one time. Our whole tractor cost us $3300 so wasn't expensive to begin with. We figure we got our money's worth easily as we owned that thing for 20 years (2003-2023).

See if you can find a email address for the place in China, translation would be easier.
Replacing the head gasket is a very easy process if you're even remotely mechanical. My Jinma had the wrong head when I bought it allowing compression and fluid to get in through the water jacket.

I had to split mine shortly after I got it as the cam bearing was installed wrong and didn't allow oil to reach the top end ruining the rocker shaft and arms. Ended up having to tear the engine down to the block to reinstall a new cam bearing correctly. Never having done something similar before but being mechanically inclined it was not a hard job at all as Chris85 mentioned.

I haven't been on here in a while and just saw your post.

I've had some luck buying parts direct from China on AliExpress. Sometimes I get the right part, sometimes I don't, but they're cheap enough that it's worth gambling. In China Jinmas sell by the millions and the parts are commonplace.
