Jinma 254 - no hydraulic power

So I found a guy selling a 254 for "best reasonable offer" and he says the following:
2002, 4wd ac heat radio has duel front and rear tires. 2 rear are loaded. I broke a hydrolic hose last fall. After I put the pump and hose back on I have no hydrolics... Probally something simple. I just don't use the tractor enough to just ify keeping it. only has about 300 hrs on it. best reasonable offer
2 questions - does this really sound like something simple and what's a reasonable offer (the lower the better since there is a risk its not something simple).

Worst case is it will take maybe $500 to get a new pump, fluid, filter, and drive coupler with seals.

Interesting part is the cab and duals. I have only seen a few with cabs and only 1 with dual rears. Dual fronts are a new one to me.

Just realize you will need equipment to load it. They have hydraulic steering so you will have to figure it out.

As far as a offer I have no cab and no duals and gave $9000 cash for my 284 new in 2003 with a FEL and 5' King Kutter finish Mower. Judge your offer from that.

That tractor in 2002 with a cab was probably $7000. The extra tires are about $800 to $1000 new.

Well the hours aren't bad, but it is almost 10 years old. The 200 series tractors are the light weight ones (as compared to the 300 series) so I wonder how it does with duals all around. May not have enough weight to get sufficient traction - or it might be better, I don't know about such things.

As Chris siad, a new pump is only a few hundred bucks if the guy deadheaded his new one due to bad quick connects or something.

A cab with heat would probably nice for plowing snow, huh? Don't know how much power the AC would suck.

If you could get it for $3500 I think you'd come out okay no matter what.

Think the front dials could just be some kind if spacer with lugs for the second set? I almost bought a Jinma with loader and backhoe but I drive it and when turning the front wheels basically flopped to their side and didn't steer the tractor, it just went straight.. Not sure how tight I could turn with dual fronts.

Yeah, I'm not sure the OE steering cylinder is up to the job handling dual fronts - especially in soft stuff with 4wd engaged. Wouldn't surprise me if that's not what took out the pump.

So 2wd on soft stuff but what if I want to push snow on the driveway... Thoughts that 4wd would be okay?

Wow, can't be too big of an issue $$$ wise. I looked at the listing and that's a decent looking rig w/FEL. I think you could go more than $3500 on it but I'd still try to get it for as close to that as you can. Play on the fact that it's currently inoperable, the problem is unknown, it's /-10 yrs old and he needs it gone...have a stack of $20's in hand.

If I was going to use that to plow or move snow I think I'd lose the extra front wheels and just set the one pair to the widest stance. Then 4WD should be fine.

When it comes to flotation tires, there's a time and a place for them and snow and mud usually ain't it. Better to have tires that dig down to solid ground and take a bite in my experience. That's why the early Volkswagen Beetles were such good snow cars - 16" narrow tires.
