John Deere 300B Gas - Hydraulic Fluid

I just got a 70's model john deere 300b backhoe. what type of hydraulic fluid should I run it it. I can find any info out through the dealer. thanks

Hyd oil that meets or exceeds J20C spec's. Hyd oil needs to be for wet clutch/brake application.

The dealer does not know, odd ? There is a row of Hy-Gard pails within view of the parts counter . You can order an operator's manual. The filter and screen are important too.

yup, clean quality utf. doesn't have to be from a jd dealer either.. just find a house brand that meets the specs.

heck... specs back then were likely 303.
