John Deere 3320
Ever have one of those problems you try and ignore ? I have a 3320 it was 5 years old when I purchased it and now 5 years later I still cannot get the in line hydraulic filter off for cleaning. inline filter.jpg
I cannot get this filter unscrewed. Now granted I haven't tried heating it up , any suggestions for loosing this little bugger would be most appreciated.

Old thread…. Did you figure it out? I’m stuck. Mine is one a 3203.

If it is still the original filter then try using a box cutter knife and cut the paint where the filter meets the hydraulic block. Make sure you go all the way around.

Hope this helps!!

Thanks. Finally got it off. But could not get the filter out of the housing. Manual doesn't show the separate parts of this cleanable filter and housin. Went to John Deere dealer and had to buy the entire assembly, plus separately the o rings. $100 dollars later, after another $300 in fluid and the replaceable filter, it’s back together and working…. With a hitch. Manual says it takes 6.8 gallons. I put in 6.75 gallons, and it only at the top of the add line on the dip stick. I ran it a while, to make sure the fluid found it way everywhere. I have more hydro fluid, but I don’t want to over fill it. Any thoughts?

PS. I’m going to try and get the original in-line filter apart, even though I spent $80 for a new one. I bet there is nothing wrong with it, and its clean inside. Amazing how much small o rings and a gaskets costs. Thanks

if you had known you wouldn't re-use the housing from the get-go

the lead tech of the shop i worked at back in high school would just hammer his largest screwdriver through a stubborn filter and use that for leverage :)
