John Deere 345 lawn tractor w/Kawasaki FD611V 20hp engine....starting issue

Greetings......I have a John Deere 345 lawn tractor w/Kawasaki FD611V 20hp engine.... Engine just clicks when trying to start (will finally start)....ongoing problem for over a year....finally decided to replace the starter solenoid today. I got everything all put back together only to discover it's still doing the clicking thing. It was getting late so I decided to start it and move it out of the way till tomorrow morning only to have it quit before I could get it parked. Will turn over but won't start. Anyone have any suggestions as to where I should start to get it running again? Thanks for your help.

Deere 345 has several interlocks on both the start and ignition circuits. The service manual does a pretty good job of explaining diagnostic procedure for each circuit.

Check all your electrical connections, especially around the starter and battery

"check" meaning removing and cleaning, as sounds like corrosion is possibly causing a disconnect.

Well, it starts now(it was the seat safety switch), but the clicking noise when starting persists. New starter solenoid installed to no avail. Still clicks. Could problem be the starter itself?

Battery cable connections need removal and cleaning, or battery needs load testing. If that doesn't work, then go after the starter.

fuel filter or water in gas.

fuel filter or water in gas.

Neither of those would cause a starter to not spin the motor over and just click.

Problem is definitely electrical there
