I was using my JD 4700 Power Reverser today. However, when moving some wood I heard a "thud" or "clunk" and the tractor would not go in gear. After trying different gear ranges with no success, I put it in 4WD. The front tires moving and I was able to get it back to my house. Also, I had some success using the differential lock. I looked underneath and didn't see anything that looked broken or leaking etc. Any idea where I should start looking? Any advice?

Thanks
Al

I looked underneath and didn’t see anything obvious. I’m taking it to the repair shop tomorrow.

Can somebody comment further on this, and where this pinion shaft is located?
Beenthere answered your question.

In the future if you open JDparts.com go to PC10440 for model 4700 then enter a part #(M808491)in search window then schematics with part # application locations will appear as shown in photo below.
